Mashy,
He is actually okay lately. Behaved himself many weeks already. Dunno what is wrong with him today.
Anyway now at home, when I ask him what is wrong, he only say he shouldn’t do that and he is sorry. Sigh. Naughty naughty! -
Nugget
I think there are always some ‘off’ days. Even we can go a bit off at times and don’t behave typically.

May I know In what or how they hav improved after they gone through therapy and eipic?

mashy:
yes, mashy, agree that a kid's potential is as much as we allow them to grow. ASD kids have different potential because the spectrum is quite wide. good to hear that your kid is doing well in P1. i think your kid is really smart cos he is into bonds and chemicals and universe ...Nugget
Oic. I super ks. Lol. My son had a choice to enrol this yr or next yr p1. But we opted earlier. We started his kindy earlier by a yr already so if I decided to enrol in the next yr, he will hv to repeat k2. He seems to be coping well despite the earlier enrolment. Not the best in class but also not the worst. Maybe if I delayed, he might top the class but I find this is not challenging his mind. It's tougher now since he is youngest in class, HFA and need to constantly push him. To me, I just take the plunge and deal with the issues one at a time. I feel a kid's potential is as much as we allow them to grow. If we keep them in a shell, he will just grow within the shell. If u put him in a bigger tank, they will grow bigger. Hard for us, but better for them in the future.
i guess its a delicate balance with different considerations coming into play. I too hope that my dd3 can be ready to enrol into P1 next year, but I am mentally prepared to defer her for one year if she is not.
whether we defer or not, i suppose we all want the best for our children.
jia you ... -
DesertWind:
good for you desertwind. right now i am also coaching dd3 on K1 worksheets. she is delayed in her fine motor skills and so far can only write her name in a fairly legible manner, tracing is not quite there, and coloring is relatively ok but she has the tendency to scribble ... so still a lot more work here ...Totally agree with you, nugget and ImMeeMee!
My boy 2007 too and that is also my game plan. Go into mainstream P1, no deferment,
hope that by then he would have improved and developed enough be ready for P1. Meanwhile now, he goes mainstream kindy, has individual tuition once a week, does homework at home and his mummy trying her best to teach him something so his learning does not get left behind.....
All the best to us, jia you!
how is yours coming along? -
Those assessment by physcologist are bull shit!
They are too protocol and follow papers n by the book.some uneithical one worst just wan to earn $$ and quickly finished up all papers works just to closed case…so what u are physcologist . Not all are up to the standard or good what? U may pass yr Uni doesn’t mean u can perform work well what.
Those pp who know best are our kids the daily ethical genuine experience therapist … -

nugget:
these few weeks since dd3 has been throwing tantrums in public I have been finding it difficult and stressful too. strangers do throw us looks. the best part was when I stepped into the public library and dd3 started crying loudly and the library staff started to approach us with 'that' look on the face while i was frantically trying to get her to quiet down ... :frustrated: :stupid:Just now brought my kids out for breakfast and for no reason, my ds sat on the floor and refuse to go. Aiyo damn stress. And this mother was pointing to him and telling her dd something about my son, I guess she is saying cannot behave like my boy or what.
Makes me boil man. Feel like going over to her and tell her off!! Sigh.
but i suppose its because they dont understand about the condition, and i like to think that if they are aware they will show more compassion. i just steel myself and look away and concentrate on calming dd3 down. hopefully one day Society will be more aware of such things.
but i'm impressed that your ds knows that he is in the wrong after that and that he said sorry. so he is actually aware, and that is already one great big step ahead ... :salute: -
Mashy , yr kid will be our next Singaporean hf ASD that do all Singapore ASD proud n to proof ASD is not less then other typical kid. Think he will be a great inventor hee!

If u don’t trust the psychologist, why did u even bring him in for assessments? Just go get a second opinion if u don’t trust that one. If not, then totally forget it and leave him as he is.
My kid started therapy for handwriting and speech when he was 4. I think it did benefit him. There was a time there wasn’t any improvement, then we changed another therapist and made more break through. At least now I can understand what he was talking about. Previously, we couldn’t understand what he was saying. He also couldn’t write properly in k1. Till now his handwriting still isn’t good but it’s improving.
My boy doesn’t sit down and listen. He wanders in the classroom and do his own things. But when teacher asked, he could answer. He even know actions to an action song when all the while he wasn’t even paying attention but hiding elsewhere. He still does this occasionally. When he was in sun sch, I saw him in a corner reading his bible while the rest of the class were sitting together listening to the teacher. So I don’t really care if he doesn’t sit down anymore. If he knows what’s going on, can already. And of course the sch must accept that he will wander around and not insist that it’s a problem.
