these few weeks since dd3 has been throwing tantrums in public I have been finding it difficult and stressful too. strangers do throw us looks. the best part was when I stepped into the public library and dd3 started crying loudly and the library staff started to approach us with 'that' look on the face while i was frantically trying to get her to quiet down ... :frustrated: :stupid:Just now brought my kids out for breakfast and for no reason, my ds sat on the floor and refuse to go. Aiyo damn stress. And this mother was pointing to him and telling her dd something about my son, I guess she is saying cannot behave like my boy or what.
Makes me boil man. Feel like going over to her and tell her off!! Sigh.
but i suppose its because they dont understand about the condition, and i like to think that if they are aware they will show more compassion. i just steel myself and look away and concentrate on calming dd3 down. hopefully one day Society will be more aware of such things.
but i'm impressed that your ds knows that he is in the wrong after that and that he said sorry. so he is actually aware, and that is already one great big step ahead ... :salute: -

If u don’t trust the psychologist, why did u even bring him in for assessments? Just go get a second opinion if u don’t trust that one. If not, then totally forget it and leave him as he is.
My kid started therapy for handwriting and speech when he was 4. I think it did benefit him. There was a time there wasn’t any improvement, then we changed another therapist and made more break through. At least now I can understand what he was talking about. Previously, we couldn’t understand what he was saying. He also couldn’t write properly in k1. Till now his handwriting still isn’t good but it’s improving.
My boy doesn’t sit down and listen. He wanders in the classroom and do his own things. But when teacher asked, he could answer. He even know actions to an action song when all the while he wasn’t even paying attention but hiding elsewhere. He still does this occasionally. When he was in sun sch, I saw him in a corner reading his bible while the rest of the class were sitting together listening to the teacher. So I don’t really care if he doesn’t sit down anymore. If he knows what’s going on, can already. And of course the sch must accept that he will wander around and not insist that it’s a problem. -
Actually I think my boy is as much an idiot as he is gifted. He is only smart in the sciences. The rest is just in his infancy. I just try to look more at his strengths than his weaknesses. But he totally frustrates me frequently. He couldn’t stop talking about his obsessions even at the most inappropriate time. He just went on and on.
That day, I commented that my gal was staring into space. He took it literally and said, "I think she is staring at Saturn." -

ImMeeMee,
good for you desertwind. right now i am also coaching dd3 on K1 worksheets. she is delayed in her fine motor skills and so far can only write her name in a fairly legible manner, tracing is not quite there, and coloring is relatively ok but she has the tendency to scribble ... so still a lot more work here ...
how is yours coming along?
My kid handwriting also horrible. He is like one year behind his peers. Now only start to do tracing while kids in his K1 already write in simple sentences.
But we are trying to get him to write whenever we are free at home. Lucky thing is he also likes doing his worksheets. So just keep letting him practice practice and practice! -

Ya lo! That's why I am so angry cos he knows he shouldn't pull that stun and yet he purposely did it. I think he is aware of it because he used to do it so often last time and we keep repeating \"Its not correct, daddy mummy are sad and angry when you do that\", and we made him say sorry after that.
but i'm impressed that your ds knows that he is in the wrong after that and that he said sorry. so he is actually aware, and that is already one great big step ahead ... :salute:
So he already \"programmed\" in his mind to acknowledge his fault and say sorry.
What happen this morning is bad fussing. Not a meltdown. IF its a meltdown, he will scream so loud and roll on the floor and hit us :stompfeet: :stompfeet: :stompfeet: *cross fingers* it doesnt happen so much now. -

Good that your child likes worksheets, that is already a good start. mine doesnt fancy them much, and i can only do a bit at a time, so progress is not that fast.

My boy was also writing only words while his classmates could copy the whole poem at k1. The teacher didn't even bother putting it in his folder coz he couldn't do. If she didn't show me the other kids' work, I wouldn't even know. But he is now managing. Ugly and slow handwriting. But getting there.

So don't worry. By p1, your boy will be able to write full sentences. Maybe not perfect penmanship and slow, but legible.
