Trina:
DD1 started Berries at K1 and enjoys the lessons every week and does well in class even though she attends the higher chinese class (school only has normal chinese). When compo was introduced at P3, she struggled and I signed her up for compo lesson at another enrichment centre nearer my place. Totally no help and wasted 2 terms. This year, we decided to bite the bullet and signed her up for Berries oral and compo class, in addition to her normal class (logistically not so ideal). Total 4 hours a week. Can see from school compos that she is improving and is more fluent in her writing. Will continue until P5 which is when Berries incorporate compo into normal chinese class and extend the timing to 3 hours each lesson.
what do u think of Berries 作文 for upper Pri (P4-6)? dd attending 天下 作文 now... there is a Berries near my place too and always a lot of students.... dd should be above avg for CL/HCL..... any feedback from anyone?KSP:
All these talk about what we could do differently for our P4 kids get me thinking of how I should groom DD2 who is only 9 months old. Becos of the 9 years age gap between my 2 girls, I wonder if lessons learnt with DD1 would be applicable to DD2. Frankly I have been too sleep deprived and stressed over SA1 to think about it. But think I should really start reading books to my baby as she approaches 1st birthday. One thing for sure is that we will be speaking more mandarin with her. With more emphasis on spoken Chinese, we have to expose her to
mandarin early. And start Berries at an earlier age too!
If your DD is already attending Tien Xia, why are you thinking of switching to Berries? Should be about the same standard i thought.
does it mean that berries will have compo component weekly from P5 onwards?
i find 3 hrs very taxing... -

Yes, 3 hours lesson every week. My DD1 actually prefers that to having 2 separate sessions totalling 4 hours each week. She enjoys Berries so much that she doesn't mind at all.
Easier for me logistically too

2 CL class totalling 4 hours is taxing for DD
, 3 hours also kind of long for her, so we end up senting her for Berries HCL class instead of Oral and Compo. -
