All About Full-Time Maids

I am wondering why would a maid whos ex-hong kong worked in spore?
I heard that hong kong is a heaven for maids rite? Most maids prefer to upgrade to hongkong, Somemore they have higher pay?

I had rejected the \"change job 5 times but bluff me 2 times\" maid after all the kind advices given. That one ready sound bad.

So now, the agency Recommended a 38 yr old maid who worked in hong kong and willing to take $500, with 2 off day.
Is this too good to be true?
My friend told me its common to get those ex- middle east coz their condition there is bad. So to them spore is an upgrade.
But to get one from hong kong is not common, so I shld grab the opportunity...
Hmm...any kind advise?

This is my first time getting maid and after reading thru the thead, I tink it's best to get advise from all the experience mummies here.

I am changing job soon and I cannot afford to have any hiccups at home. My new boss probably won't allow me to take leave during probation.
Reall bad timing....so I need to be super careful on my maid selection, cannot afford to get one who play punk.

I had a maid whos worked in hong kong before. Her attitude was very bad so 2 mths later I returned her to agency. Heard that she worked 7~9mths later the new empolyer \"fired\" her and now she is back to her home town.

I also give my maid kaya, butter, nutella, peanut butter or jam with a loaf of bread every week. This way you will not have to crack your brain what to buy for breakfast everyday. Sometimes I noticed she fried egg and wrap with bread.


I also buy coffee and biscuit for her. This is for her snack time.

I just want to check normally what time does your maid "knock off" from work everyday. Mine everyday 8.30pm she will be in her room. And she still complain my Hse too big??!!

She didn't like HK, as she didn't have a proper place to sleep, a mattress on the kitchen floor, and it was noisy & the employers talked very loudly, so not sure if they were scolding her or just a normal conversation.

Also, have a trusting maid is better than one with \"extra hands\" to your wallet.

i already warned my new maid that my hubby speaks in a loud manner and it might sound abrutp, rude at times. she said she understands so :xedfingers: till he is back.

as long as she does her work properly, good to my kids, no third hand, i can close one eye.

Had drawn the last straw and have to resort to get a FDW.


Have been checking around agencies and seem like no one can confirm what is the new package for indo maid.

Now there is no free replacement if you get an indo maid. This seems to be a risk for me as a first timer.

Filipino seems to be hard to manage for a first timer, they may be over your head easily.

Any advise what should i do?

Some Philip maids are quite good. finding maid is tikam tikam. You lucky you get a good one unlucky you get a lousy one. Maybe you should search for a few more agency. No replacement is not common.

Anyone of u install cameras at home?

I heard that we need to inform the maid before hand rite?
I guess most of us are like me, no one at home durign the day apart from the maid? My kid is in full day childcare. will only be bac at 5pm. I will be home at 7pm.

So far, amg my frns with maids, seems that 2/3 of them install camera, and they can see what the maid is doing from their PC! One of them even told me from iphone can see!

Mine knock off at 9pm, she will be in her room reading bible and she also complain can't handle. Previous maid can worked until midnite no complain. Why can't she(the new maid) handle when she is free at 9pm?

But we do purchase stuff separately for her like sugar, jam, biscuits because of differing tastes. The other reason is because they/she tend to use quite a lot of sugar and butter, I cannot afford to stock up on Lurpak butter or brown sugar for her. I also cannot afford to let her use the Nespresso cuz she drinks up to 3 cups of coffee sometimes!! So I get her the Nescafe.

As it is, as an example, she consumes the homemade bread most of the time but I am not complaining. Other than that, she eats everything we eat on the dinner table, including cod fish and salmon.

I don't think that buying separately for the maid entails her being regarded as a pariah. One needs to look at the bigger scheme of things.

My 2 cents

We are similar. I buy 3-in-1 coffee for my maid as she is the only one who drinks it. Other than that she will eat whatever we eat unless it is something she doesn't like in which case she usually eats something left over from the previous meal.

She will help herself to a biscuit or something in the afternoon or when she is giving the children a snack. If myself or my mother-in-law buy cakes, buns or that kind of thing we will usually buy for her as well.
