Hi mummies,


Have been reading thru’ very interesting forum discussion and am totally thrilled about joining this forum. Thanks to all the mummies for all their sharing.

I am totally shocked by the maths questions posed at the discussion - didn’t realize our kids are going thru’ such "chimp" problem sums and yes, I’m getting the jitters thinking about my P3 boy having to handle this. Hope to read more and learn more from the other mummies.

Yes, it is particularly tough for our generation of parents because we were taught in a totally different way during our time in schools. The only way we can help our children is by adapting what we know to what they are expected to learn, which means we have to roll up our sleeves and actually spend time going through their schoolwork ourselves. It's tough, but we'll get there eventually.

The 1st 2 years is the honeymoon period. This year P3 is more a \"wake-up\" call - subjects just \"deepen\" and we started seeing more challenging questions. Can't imagine the coming years.....

As I am working and have little time to coach, I've decided I may have to outsource some teaching to tuition centres. Moreover, I am also impatient and teaching kind of \"sour\" the relationship too, as I'll end up scolding and \"vomitting blood\" :stupid: Sometimes, I think I maintain my sanity by not \"seeing\" too much (and I then feel guilty that I'm not a nice patient mummy) !!! Wonder is any mummies / daddies out there have this feeling too???

Hi Pen88n

Welcome! Believe me you are not alone. I outsource teaching my daugther to individual tuition teacher & enrichment centre. But in the end, she comes back to me, telling mummy teach the best. Yes, I scold & vomit blood too & definitely try not to see too much. It keeps my sanity in-check.

Now look thru’ the old post realise DS already move from P3 to P6. Glad to have KSP forum to provide guidance and let out "steam". Really learn from lots of parents here. And have lots of fun with some frens here too!
