I would say TH is much better especially in terms of preparing for PSLE. Berries is better for younger kids, in my opinion. However, for my older kid, I switched over to TH too late and the materials too difficult so in the end I got one to one tuition. It would be good if you can start your child at TH before they reach P4 and above.

Thank you bigdad and thinkthinker10 for sharing your perspectives.

My DS1 is going to P1 next year and i have been contemplating about the move to TH. it is not an easy decision because both my DS love the chinese class at Berries alot. Also over the years we have developed a close partnership with the teachers as well.

            Hi,
If your cHildren has develop a good partnership, you might want to let them stay and observe for a while because most important they need to have something to catch their interest to continue learning.

Verysuperkiasu, you are right on the sibling rivalry…

I hv received a lot of pms, hv gathered them and asked my sis & nephews and think I better post these info here and hope they are useful.

              1) my nephews are in TH JP and Berries Bt Batok
              2) both have good partnership with the teachers, don’t think it is nice to put the teachers name here.
              3) my sis very potato, can’t coach her own boys in CL, she doesn’t want to put 2 eggs in the same basket so chosen separate schl for them.
              4) TH in K2 will start to prepare the kids for P1 based on MOE syllabus.
              5) TH has only 1 teacher, Berries has 1 teacher and 1 assistant teacher in K1 & K2.
              6) some asked what is my sis comment on berries, my sis feel it is not nice to post negative feedbacks, she can share good info like TH covered the MOE syllabus and made her boy all rounder in CL and berries made lesson interesting for kids.

              Hope this helps.

Is Berries standard higher and not academic focus?

More practise in chinese words as in writing as compared to Tien Tsie.
                Thank you.

Thank you for the advice :salute: ......but i have a different view on this. I believe wherever ones go can also develop partnership with teachers. It's just a different approach. My thoughts is i don't really like the ideas of jumping ship in between the schooling years. If possible, would like to stick to one and only one so that along the years, the teachers will know the child's style and hence approach to learning more effectively. Also it lessen the anxiety for the child. Partly also for me......i am lazy to source for another tuition ctr half way through the schooling years. 😓

                    Hi,

I agreed with you of changing the school but if the system doesn’t work for them we may need to find out the root cause. Yet,I know sone parents did expect to see improvement else they will source another centre. For me, I have change for my boy as well especially I feel that he need more intensive learning to keep his interest.

I have recently moved to Bukit Timah, of course, its for the education of my girl. She is 5 years old now, but refuses to speak in Chinese.

Any parents here can share the experience of two centers? 学林 or Busy Bee, which center is better for preschooler? :?:

                        Hi Creampuff,

I think you should read the respective threads on XueLin and BusyBee. My daughter is at XL, and its good. Not tried BB, but a forumer mentioned that she withdrew her daughter from BB and switched to XL.
