My son's teachers have asked that i consider a shadow teacher to help him in school. Does anyone have any good recommendations and also can you share your experience on what to expect from the shadow teacher? I'm really stressed out just thinking about how to pay for the teacher

Hi windie,
are u under any private education psychologist? If u are, then can ask them for recommendations. I got mine though the psychologist…
The shadow teacher will look out for things that the child can improve on such as socialising, bad habits to break and will not try to be very obvious that she is targetting the child. Once the child is able to handle on his/her own, the shadow teacher will fade out. -
Hi Windie,
You can try these 2. I have previously contacted them but my son's school principal isn't keen on outsider in the class so we didn't proceed with hiring a shadow

Can I know how much you pay for your shadow teacher? Will he / she be there with the kid thoughout the class from Monday - Friday?
I read from papers it say cost abt $4k-$5k per month. Is it really that expensive? -
My shadow teacher is charging $60 for first 2 hours and $25 for every subsequent hour. She’s in the class for 3 hr per day. Then she change the two to 2.5 hr when my girl is able to cope better. So it will cost abt $1.2k monthly.

I see. Thanks! I will see when my time comes and see if a shadow teacher is still required.

hi all,
can you plse share some tips on how to increase your kids' attention span?
My daughter is loving school, but her form teacher did feedback that her attention span is no good
too short and she will be staring into empty space, but if teachers ask her qns, she can get them right.
so my conclusion is, she is listening .
but i think when it comes to upper primary, if she does not pay full attention, how is she going to cope?
I am working with the school allied educator and the form teacher on her attention span issue.
but 1-1 alone with me at home during her school work and revision , she is good. she can pay full attention to me.
how can i help her in school for her attention issue?
Appreciate all advices

I have the same issues. My boy will be doing his own things or staring into space. But so far the teacher didn’t think it was a problem. I guess it’s like how we doodled when we were in school last time. It’s just a way to ‘pay attention’. So long as its not disruptive, it should be fine I suppose. -

I'm still using her. We have a review next week. So far so good, she's quite detailed in her report. The form teacher will usually say that shadow teacher is a assitant teacher. To make it less obvious, the shadow will also help others in the class/group. U should not tell ur child abt u engaging the shadow teacher.munchkukie:
