        Can help on these S&T?

        1) John was a lazy boy. He failed his test again.
        a) As a result of John's laziness, he failed his test again.
        b) As a result of his laziness, John failed his test again

Which is correct? a or b?

        2) Sam was stunned to see his neighbour's house. It was on fire.
        a) The sight of his neighbour's house on fire stunned Sam.
        b) The sight of Sam's neighbour's house on fire stunned him.

Which is correct? a or b?

I feel that for both questions, both a and b are correct? The name is just mentioned once in each sentence so there is no redundancy.

        Thank you, tutor_ng.

Answer: \"Are we going to Batam during the school holidays?\" Mary asked Mrs Lee.

This question tests you on converting indirect speech back to direct speech (sort of like reverse engineering).

The sentence \"Mary asked Mrs Lee if they were going to Batam during the school holidays.\" is an indirect or reported speech, and you have to write the direct speech version.

So, you change \"they\" back to \"we\" and \"were\" back to \"are\".

My DD is not sure the answer should it be set off or set out(unlikely)…

Its most likely as the phrasal verb "sets out" would not be appropriate in this context.

This is a portion of DD's Graphic Stimulus:

\"To register, go to the website http://www.esplanade.com/octoburst. You can also call SISTIC hotline 6548462. Alternatively, you can go to any SISTIC outlets between 1 June - 30 June to enjoy early birds' discounts.\"

One of the question was :

Jean saw this advertisement in August and she would like to buy a ticket to watch the show (something like that...), how many ways can she buy the ticket?

DD said 3 ways but the answer is 2. Can anyone help?
