SINGAPORE: A taxi driver, who was involved in a pre-dawn accident at the junction of Rochor Road and Victoria Street on Saturday, has died.

The 52-year-old man was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for treatment after the collision which involved his taxi, a Ferrari and a motorcycle.

After a surgery, his condition remained unstable. He died on Sunday evening.

MediaCorp spoke to his 19-year-old son.

He said his father had been a taxi driver for more than 10 years and was the family’s sole breadwinner.

He added that his sister, who has recently graduated from a polytechnic, wanted to further her studies in a university.

But the plan has to be put on hold for now.

Two others died in the accident - the driver of the Ferrari and a passenger on board the taxi.

The pictures shows the taxi was going straight and lights were green in his favour.

The Ferrari was going very fast hence the blurred vision

I believed the Ferrari's driver is at fault. The traffic light is green from the taxi driver side so obviously it's red at the other side. Another taxi driver who was driving behind the victim had a video footage taken by his in-car camera. The video shows a five second interval between the traffic light turning green and the Ferrari crashing into the taxi - according to TNP.

A taxi driver at the scene recorded the scene on his in-vehicle camera. Details are in New Paper today. His video shows the Ferrari speeding past the red light at least 5 sec after the lights turned.

a few of the websites has the video of the accident captured by the in-car-video recorder of another taxi

it is clearly the felali beating the red light at a super high speed that crashed into the taxi - causing it airborne for a while

Wanbao interviewed the felali widow and said that he told her he was out going to practice his driving ..... hmmm or was it racing ? some more with a woman companion is the 20s also from China

Today's ST reported the 31 y/o felali driver from Sichuan bought a S$4m condo in the east and also has a $400k BMW .....

tsk tsk tsk that is just so irresponsible. He thinks the car will be so fast that he can beat the traffic light? Poor people who lost their lives and my heart goes to the family members who lost their loved ones in this accident.

Don't these foreigners have to take a test to drive on Spore road???? Ok, I am not against PRC/ foreigners in particular. But they need to be educated that Spore is a small country and a felali can only travel up to 90km/ hour on Spore road. If he wants to practise driving, go to sepang or what.... not on spore road.
