If you could, would you decide on a 3rd child?

winth,Having children was never the priority in the marriage, we knew we were going to have more than 1 only when DS1 turned 2, but having 3 now??? I thought I was already supposed to close factory just a month ago...
Can you imagine having 3 study tables in the living area? 3 beds + 1 maid sleeping in the same room??? :faint:
I think one ought not to lose the woods for the trees. For sure, the decision to have another child is a big one, but don't get too hung up on the logistics of 2 vs 3 tables, there are ways around that.
Good luck! -
Winth, I believe it is more then just study tables that you are worrying about lah.
When we were kids, in my family, the dining table doubled up as study table. Even when we each had our own rooms with our own study tables in our rooms, my sis and I prefer to study at the dining table together.
I really really hope to another kid. But at the same time, bcos of age, I am worried about pregnancy risks and higher risk of having babies with disabilities.
If we had been successful with #3 earlier, we may even go for #4. But what to do, nature decided otherwise. -
Actually, after we’ve previously closed up on the option of having the third one, I felt good.
Cos I can finally work on getting my figure back, concentrate on this new workload and enjoy my boys. DS2 was a very difficult baby, and is still is. But somehow, he has grown up to a big toddler now and is just starting to get fun. He just managed to sleep through most of the nights with only 1 water-feeding at 4am.
And DS1 is just beginning to get used to have a little brother tagging along and copying his every moves. (Oh ya, just a week ago, DS1 was also asking about another baby when he was playing with DS2, weird?)
DS1 is a very good-natured and industrious boy, DS2 is ultra bad-tempered and stubborn but he’s blessed with cutesy looks and BIG eyes, so people still love him. Somehow I worry about the 3rd on how he/she’s going to ‘compete’ with his/her brothers.
On the other hand, there is some kind of loss here if I don’t wanna have a third one. There’s a chance that he/she might turn out to balance the 2 boys.
See how persistant DH is, if he keeps talking about it, I might need to go take out my mirena thingy liao… -

Hi Winth,
I share Funz's sentiments. I had 4 miscarriages b4 having my son. The last one was traumatic cuz my water bag broke the day aft I returned to work, aft having been on bed rest for 3 mths. Obs advised to deliver my bb girl (I refuse to use the word abort) at 4 and a half mths aft no improvement ie water bag remained empty, it did not self heal.
Aft my son, have had 2 more miscarriages. Want another child so badly, actually 3 more  BUT ... have to be realistic...
Its been a privilege for me to have carried this bb thru suucessfully and smoothly. I feel really blessed to have my son.
Hey, whatever the outcome, I am sure you would have thought really carefully abt it and will be at peace with it. :hugs: -
Wow autumnbronze, u are a very brave woman! :salute:
I had miscarriage once and was so traumatised. I took more than a year to recover! -
DS just told me yesterday that he is not in favour of me havung No. 3.
Reason: " I will be 10 years older than didi or meimei. Can you imagine people saying I am the daddy when I bring my didi/meimei out???"
I had a good laugh and tell him 10 years different won’t make him be mistaken as a daddy.
Anyway he says he doesn’t want another sibling.
So having a third child is not just between DH and myself.
Even my DS wants a say in it

winth,My husband and I were not entirely closed to the option of having a third child. If we have a third child, we are considering it for the year of tiger or rabbit. The age gap between are 2 boys is 4 years, 5 and 18 months respectively.
Rabbit Year is around the corner ah...

No way will I consider having #3. I can’t wait for my gal to go P1 next year. The age gap is too big - son is 10, daughter is almost 6. To start all over again will be very painful - night feeds, diapers, injections. Of course the other reasons are stress and money not enough.

I have 3 boys! 6, 3, 2!! To tell you its \"easy peasy, lemon squeezy\", i would be lying!!
Yup - it is hard work all the way + deprived sleep + thrown away career (me's just working to earn $$ to put food on the table)...
BUT, when im home after a horrible day in office, and i see them all on my bed jumping around like monkeys... i'll think its worth it!!
Haha - was asking DS1 if he wanted anymore didi or meimei... and he was like \"one more didi can??\" Of cos... i say \"no lah\" (Too expensive n i definitely tiring to have another kid), Though i occassionally harbour a tot or 2 of having one more gal! (must balance the yin n yang abit mah!)
In anycase, prob factory close lah unless accident??

vicki,
My mum always says it was much easier looking after my brother and I as compared to my 2 kids now. It’s definitely not easy because my kids are like Energizer Bunny.
Daughter asked me whether can 'give her a 妹妹 because my gf has a baby gal and she finds a bb adorable. I told her, ‘No, no no. It’s tiring to have another baby and too expensive’.
In any case, factory closed for good. Cannot afford accidents.
