Could you help to solve this maths question? Thanks.

Pupil B, J and A shared some money. The ratio of B’s money to the total of J’s and A’s money is 4:9. A’s share was 6 times J’s. B had $95 more than J. How much money had A?

Q: A farmer had a square field with an area of 57600 sq meter. He planted a tree at the four corners and some along the sides of the field. Each tree was planted 20 m from the next. How many trees were planted on one side of the field?

Q: In a swimming test there were 109 participants. The ratio of the no. of boys who passed the test to the no. of boys who failed the test was 4:9. 4/7 of the girls passed the test. A total of 52 pupils passed the test. How many girls failed the test?

Q: Ben bought 2 sacks of flour, sack A and sack B. They had a total mass of 440 kg. Ben then poured 1/3 of the flour from sack A to sack B. Then he poured 1/3 of flour from sack B to sack A. As a result both sacks had the same amount of flour. How much flour was there in sack A at first.

You may use MD or work using units.

B:(J+A) -------- 4:9 -------- 28:63

A:J -------- 6:1 (7) -------- 54:9 (63)

Make the total units for (J+A) the same.

28 – 9 ------- 19

19 units ------- 95

1 unit ------- 5

A -------- 54*5 ------- 270

Work backwards..

in the end (after 2nd transfer-->1/3 transferred from B to A)
A --> 220 kg
B --> 220 kg (2/3 B left) -- 1/3 --> 110 kg

Before 2nd transfer (after 1/3 transfer from A to B)
A --> 110 kg (2/3 A left) -- 1/2 --> 55 kg
B --> 330 kg

At first,
A --> 165 kg
B --> 275 kg

Boys, passed : failed --> 4u : 9u
Girls, passed : failed --> 4p : 3p

Total passed, 4u + 4p ---> 52
1u + 1p --> 13

Total 13u + 7p --> 109
6u --> 109 - 7 x 13 = 18
1u --> 3
1p --> 10

Girls who failed --> 3 x 10 = 30

Hi

each side of the square field --> sqrt (57600) = 240 m
240 / 20 = 12 gaps
Number of trees on one side = 12 + 1 = 13
