        25hr mama:

This is a repost, I hv shared this sentiment in another thread.

I'm sure many parents share the same sentiments. When our kids were in mainstream, they basically breezed thru all exams, topping class or level without much problems. But when come to GEP, they need to put in more effort, as all the subjects r pitched at a higher level, in order to tap to their so called \"fullest potential\", I guess.

Hence, both parents & kids have to manage their expectations more realistically. I dun think it is wise to expect them to excel in every paper, in all subjects. A little setback is necessary & good for the kids sometimes.

DS is averaging below 70% for most subjects

I am really concerned cos I know he is quite disappointed that he can't do well even though he has put in effort..

EL used to be his strongest subject but now he is scoring below baseline and i know he feels demoralised.

DS has also told me that he thinks he is not good enough for the programme and asked if he should go back to mainstream.. Can't help but feel sad for him..

Don't be discouraged. Some of my ds classmates did badly in p4 but their results gradually improved in p5 and p6. This is only the first exam. It is still too early to say whether the kids are suitable for the program. Jia you:)

Gep English is usually tough to score as there are only 2 components, cloze and comprehension. However the paper only contributes to 40 percent. If he has done his daily work well, it may pull up his overall English mark.

I got from DS that they were asked to fill some survey form about their feeling of this GEP course yesterday.

My DS always say nothing to update me. Sometimes I need to find out thru here....Just last week he brought back eng file so many pages have question mark by teacher bcos no signature fr parent.

The HC scores varies greatly in their class....fr 56 to 28 out of 60. Heard the median is 32. Is it true?
The fact that ur son is chosen to participate for the outing shows his score is not that bad cos only the top few scorers are asked to participate.

I didn't even know that's such a new thread here as I usually goes to the \"View my posts\" option until a fren hightlighted to me in a pm how come I was so quiet.. I am puzzled as the 2011 GE thread was not that much active these days.

šŸ˜ž I should have found out earlier and then I won't be so stressed by myself.
But still hope not too late.

Really? But I heard from him the median is 46??? That's why I am worried. Maybe his compo score pulled him up? But teacher did not give back the compo paper.

I thought the outing is for everyone in his class as he didn't mention this.

But if half of the class failed the baseline, does it make sense for these to attend remedial classes ? Is the ppw was really too challenging , or the current batch of students are really below expectations ? :?

DS did quite well for revision and past year mock papers so was very :yikes: with his results. Anyway told him not too feel too disappointed just have to work harder for the rest of the year. Don't want him to lost heart, he told me \"mum, maybe I am not suitable for the prog?\"

Pinball, I am the one who is wondering if my son is in the wrong programme or not.. I am more stress than him I think, especially seeing his failing results in mocked test, exam and the \"greenery\" in his daily worksheets.
