His Chinese is jus slightly above the mean, so still got lots of room for improvement. But I dont think he can compare to those on top as he hardly read any Chinese or speak Chinese at home.
Don't be too upset, at least your DS scores quite well in his English & Chinese, which I think even harder to achieve than Math. -

Same for my DS in Chinese.

Thanks Comfy ! Yes, sometimes I do nag too.
I like your DD's attiutde. When I advised my DD that she would need to study hard, she said that she will. But then she just didn't have the initiative like your DD to want to read up on the next topics. Still depending on me to nag/remind her to do it. Now, still waiting for her to 'wake' up. :slapshead:GiftedGem:
DD told us she would work harder for Sci than other subjects (since she is managing ok with the rest ) and started her own reading for next new topics on Water Cycle and Plant System.

Hi toxic118, for Math, ask ur ds to go thru all the worksheets, mock papers and CA1 paper again during the school holidays. Work on those questions that he had made mistakes, See whether hez able to answer correctly, timing also important, even if he can produce the correct answer but take long time to figure out, then he needs more practice, or that may show he can't quite grasp the concept or the method yet.My DS score badly on Math paper1, only 30/50 almost the lowest in class where highest score is 50/50. He looked so down and dejected but I told him to take it as a good wake up call. I told him if he cant cope with his 2 CCA in school then he may have to quit cos he spend a lot of time in front of the computer whether doing projects or wasting time playing computer games or chatting with his friends online till no time for other stuff.
His score for Math previously was average consistently above 95. So it's good to let them feel the setback (try to think positive here) or else they thought it's still smooth sailing without putting much effort as last time.
Try to identify his weakness n focus on that. For example, he may be ok with whole numbers but not so good in Factors/multiples, then he can focus more on that area. When he's done with the school papers, and still interested, then u may like to let him practise on those questions posted on the forum like Q&A P5 Math or Q&A PSLE Math.
Hope this method work for ur DS. CHEERS...
