      worried parents:
oh no, how can this happen ? My child was diagnosed with chicken pox and was given five days mc on Monday. Today, I brought him back to the clinic for review and another doctor said it is not chicken pox but normal rash due to hot weather.

      Luckily this happened after SA1.
:whut: alamak ! :slapshead: how could this happen ?!

Can ask which doc you go and where is it located ?

I used to joke with DD that SA stands for Speed and Accuracy so have to be careful (cannot say the forbidden word \"careless\") and finish the papers and leave at least about 10-15 mins to check through. 😄

I used to repeat this every time before my DD starts her revision papers :

        \"Every mark counts !\"

So now the 3 words stuck with her liao :rotflmao:

        Ah, \"careless\" is forbidden ! I must remember this. What's the history behind ? chenonceau's suggestion ?

Timer : Janet, when my son first started using the timer he was like that too ! more focused on the timer than the task 😓 but he got used to it eventually.

My DS also used to play with the timer. Now it doesn't bother him anymore but he does check if he's on time. That reminds me, I haven't been using the timer the past few weeks. Maybe that's why he's getting slower and slower and slower! Should put it back in use.

My son said they did a MOE survey in school today about who attends tuition, educational standards of parents, etc… Was this being done in other schools too?

MOE periodically will conduct such surveys, but usually the sample size is controlled and not too large.

:yikes: Really scary as your child was taking medicine for chickenpox. Is it the polyclinic.

How to deal with over confident child ?

My DS is one. He just ate his humble pie in this SA1. He strongest subject, never falls below 90, scored a 8x this round. He was devastated as he was over confident when doing the paper. Ended up with careless mistakes. He told me he has learnt not to be take the paper too lightly even though he is strong at it.

I think the best way to deal with over confident kid to let them fall once in a while so that they will learn from there. Just my opinion 😄

Have you guys started revision again? I'm feeling quite drain from the last round of SA1, hopefully next week we can start the engine again....

My DS forbids me to touch him since after his SA1. We will start revision after next week with gear 1 and slowly move into higher gear. Can't force him to do anything now as it will churn out rubbish in the end 😂

                    .

                    Hi pixiedust,

It is actually our \"house rule\". Used to remind my DD not to make any careless mistakes when she was in lower primary. The more
I reminded her, the more careless mistakes she made ! :faint:

So my DH said why not remind her to be careful (positive input) instead of careless (negative input ) so I tried. By end of primary 3, she has cut down her not so careful mistakes by half (used to lose 20-25 marks).

Whether is it our choice of words that helps - I don't really analyse too much as long as it works for my DD! 😄

Agree. Same with my kids. IMO, it's better to slip now.....so that they wake up for PSLE 😓
