Perhaps it's also parents who sleep late n struggle every morning packing your the kids to school!
i try to let my kids sleep lates at 9.30pm. pls adivce if it can be earlier.
just don't want to wake them up at 5.30am but can't be even later otherwise they will not able to catch 6.10am school bus.[/quote]Your kid's school must be quite far from your place if they need to catch the bus at 6.10m. The primary nearest to my place has their assembly held at 7.20am so I am assuming your kid's school starts around the same time too. You would anticipated this right? No?
I think changing school or moving home is a bit drastic. Hoping to change moe is even more unrealistic. How about ferrying your kids to school on your own (no sch bus in the morning)?
When I was in primary school, I took the school bus briefly. A 10 min journey by foot became a 35min journey by school bus! If you ferry your kids by driving/even taxi, perhaps your kids can wake up later? -
Everyone has his/her own constraints with regards to time management.
Not everyone has the good fortune to be able to put their kids in a school that is within 2km of their home.
Not everyone has the luxury to be home by 8pm to put their kids to bed.
Not everyone has the luxury of being able to send their kids to school in the morning whether it starts at 7.20am or 8am. -

Agree with above but not pt 1. What it has to do with good fortune? Aren't there several schools within the neighbourhood? :scratchhead:Everyone has his/her own constraints with regards to time management.

There are those who are balloted out for schools within 1km and also 2km so no choice but to go further. Within neighbourhood yes, definitely there will be schools but may not be within 2km.

The only school within 1km from where I stay is a girl's school. The other schools within 2km from where I live are hot schools that go into balloting for those within 1km. So I have to go a bit further.
I am just citing my example as some of the possible constraints that parents encounter. I do not have any issue with the school starting at the current time or even at 8am cos I am one of those who have the luxury of flexible work hours. -
Oh ok, that’s true Funz. You raise the point now that I recalled i have a friend who could not get into the school just opposite her house. At phase 2C-supp, the next nearest school was already filled up so she has no choice but to register at a school further away and her daughter needs to catch the school bus. It was really inconvenient for her as she has 4 children. She appealed to MP and got a place at her 1st choice school but that was when the elder one was already starting P3 (2 years waiting) but at least it’s helpful for her since she has 3 other younger ones.

The 8.5hrs need not be continuous stretch.. mebbe you can try afternoon nap to make up some of it.. esp if you hv the luxury of being an SAHM.Mawar:
I can cut down on some things but I must have my beauty sleep. If I don't get my 8.5 hours, I will not be able to function.
same here.
but i need to clear things after kids go to bed. i usually can only start Zzz after 10.30pm, and wake up by alarm at 5.30am. so rarely get 8.5, that's why i buzz here.
and i believe i am not buzz for myself. -

Sleep is one of the richest topics in science today: why we need it, why it can be hard to get, and how that affects everything from our athletic performance to our income. Daniel Kripke, co-director of research at the Scripps Clinic Sleep Center in La Jolla, Calif., has looked at the most important question of all. In 2002, he compared death rates among more than 1 million American adults who, as part of a study on cancer prevention, reported their average nightly amount of sleep. To many, his results were surprising, but they’ve since been corroborated by similar studies in Europe and East Asia. Kripke explains.
