That is why I'm upset about. They don't even give him a chance but reject him upfront. Haiz! What to do? My child is lousy and don't deserve their help. Anyway I wonder if MOE agree with them? Any one know how can I check if MOE?
Dun think they will reject the kids based on poor sch result..unless u are talking abt the HA (Higher achiever class)??
Both my kids got enrolment without taking any assessment test.
My dd1 was with them since P1 Term 3..taking maths and English. I would say her Maths has improved a lot (from band 3 to lower band 1) since she is with the center. I like their maths material..each topic will have at least 3 levels of worksheet, they cover the basic at level 1 and 2..the more difficult and challenging at level 3 - and even then there are work examples to guide through. I expect my dd1 to do level 1 and 2 on her own...for level 3..sometimes she needs extra help from me..For all questions that I guided her, I will make a marking to let the tutor know..and I will write a note to teacher and let her know that she is still weak in that particular concept...hopefully she can go thru with her again during the class.
As for English, their English worksheet is quite challenging..my gal is still struggling with the language..but at least she is not failing. Initially I am upset with the center for asking them to do the model compo 3 times..but I know I see that my gal starts to include idioms and more vocab in her writing piece beginning of this year. I hv to admit that my gal is not a good writer..and perhaps memorising such model compo will help her to pass the subject.
I am thankful that she has the same maths and english teachers for the past 2 years - I always speak to them in their annual PTM - and I know they understand my gal's study pattern when they highlight her strength and weakness. And my gal is quite comfortable to approach them for clarification..I was initially very surprised to hear that cos she is very introverted and has no confidence. -

Thank you for your kind sharing. May i ask when your DD told to do the compo 3xs.......is it ist time and subsequently copied 2xs based on the corrected version? Or......
Can advise on that? -

Yes..first time will be a draft..whereby there will be helping words and phrases and they break down the compo by paragragh with teacher's guidance ..second time will be the correction of the draft..and 3rd time will be the final copying of the model compo

I know some parents will disagree with the method cos it is tedious and nothing creative..but for kid like mine..there is no way to pass the compo exam if she does not memorise those phrases..I have spoken to her english teachers in school and one of them advised me that not everyone is a good writer even though she/he may be an avid reader. Using good phrases will help the kids to gain extra marks..I desperately need that extra marks... -
Sad to say they rejected my child due to his result. No, I did not request or did they mention about the higher achiever class. I was rejected 2 times for different subject, grades n period.

Only for their HA class, they reject the students based on their school marks. because they cover more challenging (!) stuff there. For achievers' class, they reject only if the class is full. if u think you are not trying for high achiever, you can call the head quarters.Hi all mothers,
Wonder if any of you encounter issue enrolling your child into the school but I did. It really upset me & my child. I wanted to enrol my child twice but was rejected because he failed his CA for math & SA for science. The reason is because the standard for this school is much higher than the school so my child cannot attend their lessons.
The impression they gave me is they only accept good students. Those child did not do well will have zero chance. The school concept is? Good grade can enrol? Low grade cannot enrol? They didnt even asked me how was his previous CA or give any trial test to check if my child is grade is really that bad or other reasons & reject the enrolment. The front officers are given the empowerment to reject enrolment? Are they qualify to do so? Than they should be conducting the lessons n not doing front line job. Sad that the school have such concept. So remember parents if your child grade is not good don't think of enrolling to this school, it will upset you n your child. Btw the branch that I went is Yew Tee branch & the experience front line officer that reject after hearing my child result is Fiona(She doesnt want to tell me her name when I asked in the beginning, she insist not to tell me her surname and quickly walk into the office & called her manager & report it. Wonder why?)
PS: I am not a shareholder of MS nor working there. It is just my DD is attending their classes. Another important point to note - readers must be aware that some biased tutors try to twist the reality eventhough they are aware of the real situation. What do they gain? May be they can attract the students to their tuition centre  . Again it is purely my opinion which may not be true

Agreed with the other mummy, perhaps u shd write to the HQ to seek clarification. I hv to say, sometimes the admin staff are not too friendly or forgetful..I may have catch them at the wrong timing but then so far the teachers are okay, the teachers are the one dealing with my kids so I will just hv to bo chap the admin staff..
I always make it a point to ask my kids how they feel abt the class and teachers..no complaints so far except for 1 or 2 kids in the class who are talkative and likes to distract the other kids. -
I don’t think my child is qualify for HA class @ this moment. No, the front line officer told me there are vacancy Monday n Wednesday so I decided to enrol him for Monday class. Next she asked my child grade n I shared with her is 43/100. She checked with Fiona and she told her no n she turn back n rejected my enrolment, i asked her why n she said their school standard is much higher than my child school n so my child will have difficulties if he attend. Are they so sure about this? Did they asked me what was his grade for CA1? Yes, my child failed but when the school advertise the result of their students didn’t some of them have low grades and achieved better grades after attending their lessons? I just don’t understand the actual concept the school have. Anyway, I won’t consider the school anymore.

I am sorry to hear that. But I am not sure why they said like that. Very strange. The frontline staff confused with Achiever and HA class???? How can the frontline staff so ......?
Because I helped my friend (she does not know English) to fill in the application form to enroll in MS for English Achiever class. They just collected money and explained the terms (!). That is it.
Dont know who can help you. May be HQ???? -
Yes, I'll need to check with their HQ about this. I felt rather unfair about the whole issue. Thanks mum for sharing
