Horizon Primary

Hi,
So far ,I'm satisfied with Horizon pri school teachers.Quoting an example, in the 3th week of Jan 12,my girl's form teacher called me around 5 pm to show concern to my girl as she was accidentally pushed by her classmates when she was queuing outside classroom. Most importantly, the school teaches the right values to the students by introducing 7 habits which you can find the details as followed http://www.horizonpri.moe.edu.sg/cos/o.x?c=/wbn/pagetree&func=view&rid=1119132 -
cadencemummy:
Anyone can share about the after school care, what would the kids be doing there? What time suppose to fetch our kids? Is it like childcare hours, by7pm ?
I'm please with the service provided by ProTeach (the after school care provider). They will have lunch and tea break; guide kids to complete the school work/homework; coach them with spelling (English and MT); nap etc.
Have to fetch the kids by 6.55pm, as the school will lock all gates by 7pm. -
Hi, mummies. Like to know more abt the horizon school:
1) the after school care provide nap time too?
2) closed at 7pm? Cause saw a boy in my son childcare finished student care at 6pm and he has to stay at the canteen to wait for parents.
3) How does higher chinese work in P1? parents opt for it? -

1) Yes, they provide nap time. The students will sleep on their sleeping bags.
2) The school gate closes at 7pm, thus parents have to fetch the students by 6.55pm. The old arrangement was that the centre's teacher will bring the students to the canteen at 6pm. This is where they would wait for parents accompanied by their teachers of course. However, since last month, they no longer wait for parents at the canteen but stay put in class to wait for parents.
3) I am not Chinese and not able to help on this

Higher Chinese for all Chinese. No opt out option in p1.

I will be registering my girl into this sch for next yr P1. i think i am getting more excited than my girl...Can i know the following to start planning....
- How many sets of school uniforms + PE attire is preferred to be purchased?
- On avg, what is the cost of the school textbooks & uniforms from this school?
Or if there is any current P1 parents who would like to sell off their textbooks at the end of this year, i do not mind as well.
(if pages are still intact,re-useable...) save the trees..... :rahrah: -
I got my gal 3 sets each for PE attire and uniform as she change her attire everyday. Currently, my gal used 3 sets of PE attire and 2 sets of uniform weekly. Cost is abt $30+ for uniform and $20+ for pe attire.
Cost of text book is about $100+.
Hope it help. -
Another thing that touches me is that the principal Mrs Ang will make an effort to welcome the children back to school every morning at the main gate unless she has something on that day . Then other teacher will stand at the gate to welcome the students .She will greet the pupils & they will greet her in return. At the same time , she will talk to parents ,take note & write down in paper if thereβs any matter .

hello all,
I will be moving to Punggol in Year 2014 (waiting for TOP).
Me & hubby is deciding to travel to & fro from Yishun (currently staying) for my boy's first year, to enrol into Horizon Pri School, or to do transfer to Horizon only in Pri2.
I think staying through the same school will be better than the child, rite? I scare that he cant adapt in new environment in P2, and difficult to mingle into those grps of frens.. new kid on the block
I saw on Horizon's website tat their open house is on 14th Jul, I will be gg
and Im looking forward.
Btw, may i know what the schooling time for Pri 1?
I need to plan the logistic for his Pri 1, getting him into the student care is the best choice? im still thinking... when do i need to register him for the student care?
Who shall i look out for at the Open House? I should bring my boy along rite? to let him have a feel.
im a lil bit nervous now... a very new milestone for him and for me also..stressed ..haa -

Hi virgoinvenus,
Let me try to share my view here.
1) It will be good to have your son to start the P1 with Horizon then transfer him in P2, as he will only need to go through one time of adjustment rather than twice.
In addition, if they have the 100% take-in like this year P1, they may not have slot for the transfer in P2, unless some student transfer out.
2) Horizon is having a single session only. Lesson ends at 1.30pm and there are days ends at 3.30pm
3) The demand for the onsite Student Care is very high, and understand that they try to increase the number of intake. You can only register with them after you receive the confirmation from the school about your son's enrolment. You can visit them during the open house.
4) Yes, the open house is on 14th Jul 2012. Bring your son along, the school will arrange some classes/activities for the kid, to get them have the first experience with the school.
Hope this is useful.
Regards
