I am not sure as my child has only attended Berries during K1 and 2 so can’t really compare. Berries is fantastic for preschool but I can’t say the same for primary level. hth.

                Hello tinkfirst,

I switch my P6 and P4 from Wang Lao Shi to Xuelin. I have witnessed the improvement and confidence in their learning, of which I agree that Xuelin is expensive, but it is the money definitely worth spending. I do not think it's just the materials alone. The most important is the teachers; the key difference!

Hello hsm, Xuelin 's contact is 63635400/66363622. I don't think they have a website.
My P5 son attended Wang Learning Centre and quit after nine months. Most of the classses there cater to higher MT sudents and DS is one of the few who attended the normal class. in fact, I think in P5 they only have one normal class. I find the standard high as he is only average in the subject and attending enrichment class is our way for him to catch-up. But I find him having more \"catech-up\" to do at Wang as the material is more suited for higher MT students and I doubt they do much to make modifications to cater to average students.

There is a weekly Ting Xie at wang and I find it extremely time consuming for him to learn two sets of it, one for school and the other for his lesson at Wang. The words are more difficult than those DS gets from school and many are longer phrases and sentences. He wasn't able to juggle and learn two , on top of the schoolwork that he has to complete.

The teachers there are rather young, and Wang herself used to be a tutor operating from her home in the East years ago. It has become a bsusiness and a friend who knows her said she used to tutor her kids and was good, but since setting up a school it has become so different.
DS did not improve in his results and during this period, his teacher did not even offer any form of feedback on his progress. When I spoke to his teacher twice and both times, other than saying DS is well-behaved and she liked him a lot, she did not comment or suggest ways he could improve.

IMO, if your child is highly motivated and good in the language, perhaps this learning centre is able to cater to your needs of raising your child's standard and interest. Otherwise, look elsewhere before it does more damage in killing your child's interest and leaving him feeling demoralised.

                  Hi,

my ds chinese is really bad. He scored 20 in P1 and 50 in P2. I was dead worried and decided to sign him up with wang lao shi when he started P3. He has to go there twice a week. In the beginning, he hates it and will cry whenever he does the worksheet and learn spelling. My hubby and I have to take turns to help him with his hw and spelling. It was tedious but we didn’t have a choice. He scored around 75 for P3 SA2 and he was over the moon. Now he is used to it and can do his worksheet and learn chinese spelling on his own. I think it’s the combination of wang lao shi class and parents support that make it work.

I feel that the new teachers are not so good. They recruited many new teachers and they can’t handle a big class. My boy is in the paper I class.

Oh, how big is each class? Has your boy improved in his writing?
