[Queenstown] Primary Schools

Hi, I've sent them an email to 'politely' request for those PSLE results. Since emails have a time stamp on them, they should reply in 1-2 days' time...
Err... that might be the wrong move. We forget we are dealing with the garmen sometimes. Black and white takes a lot more time to process, and you may not get what you ask for in the end. People are generally more comfortable with telling you over the phone with no paper trail. Hopefully, I'm wrong. -
winth:
Hi Luanee, which school did you register in? Do you personally prefer New Town or Queenstown?
Hi winth, I registered in RGPS. Frankly speaking, I have no idea about New Town or Queenstown, sorry. But Queenstown seem a little more popular going by this yr's stats. -
Hi everyone,
There wasn't a reply from New Town Pri via email so I called them up personally for a check. They said they had no history of posting their results on the web and now they are busy preparing for their PSLE. So guess that means none will entertain me...
Called MOE to check too but they said they couldn't help either...
New Town seems good but am really worried about the merge with Ghim Moh in 2009. The officer I spoke to even told me that they don't know which principal is going to head the school and all the staff list are, right now, private and confidential. -

I too called New Town Pri about 2 months ago and like you, seeking for information PSLE. I was being told that they are not sure of the historical data.
New Town Pri principal will remain. You will see the information in their website. Have you registered your kid in New Town Pri? If yes, then there isnt much you can worried about. They are moving into the new campus, so I think should be a lil' messy at the start. -
Hi niecoco,
Not for the 2009 intake actually. My boy is for 2010 intake, so I'm still sourcing around for information. If not for the merge in 2009, New Town would have been my first choice. Am worried about the merge. Err... went through Ghim Moh website and their PSLE ranking from MOM release, doesn't seen to be even close to Queenstown.
My neighbour, whose girl is in Queenstown Pri told me that the school is no good but didn't elaborate further. :?
My friend, whose girl is in CHIJ (Kellocks), isn't doing well in her studies and she really regretted going through the balloting and arranging the school bus transport just to go CHIJ. She said the teachers are not committed in helping with her school work but are very concerned in raising enough $$ for this and that carnival, school event etc... -
winth:
Have you considered Radin Mas & Zhangde? Of all I know, CHIJ Kellock isnt as bad as you thought, really. You can make a trip to the schools during their open day next year before deciding. Are you staying very close to Henry Park? If yes, this will be the best option...Hi niecoco,

Hi niecoco,
I stay a walking distance to Queenstown Primary, so that makes Queenstown, New Town and GES Pri within <2km from where I stay. Has got no popular schools within my area.
Henry Park is definitely out of reach for me, might consider Zhang De too but I think there is a chance that it might need balloting. Starting to feel the stress liao… -
oh well… poor fella. if u ask me, GES is the better ones among Queenstown Pri & NT Pri. But GES have double session…
-
Hi, I'm staying around Commonwealth so the no. of primary schools around this area is very little. My twin boys are in the 2010 intake.
I happen to pass by New Town Pr Sch and they have this banner stating the top score for PSLE. 2007 was 276, 2006 was 269 and 2005 was 262. The choice of Pri schools that I have is either New Town or Queenstown.

Hi mmpiglet,
Actually, I would personally prefer New Town to Queenstown bec I stay near Queenstown Pri and my impression of Queenstown just isn’t good. Dunno why… mummy’s instinct? And New Town’s CCA seems to match my son better…
But I would want to go to both schools for a look when it’s time to register. Have checked their MOE’s website for PSLE release. New Town has better records than Queenstown in that it was listed as good progress school/student scoring more than 275 for 2004 and 2007 respectively. Queenstown just managed to be in MOE’s list in 2007. And Queenstown’s PSLE aggregate score isn’t good.
I think if we as parents prepare our children for P1, there is really not so much to worry about. Cheer UP!
I come from a neighbourhood school (Bukit Merah Primary - long demolished) and most of us managed to end up in good institutions and universities with decent professsions. If Bukit Merah Primary was still around, I would be so proud to send my boy there.
