My dd's ft is the level manager and she is always needed elsewhere. Since term 2, another teacher (trainee) has been taking them english and math but she still teaches them science. The trainee has return to hq for more training and another teacher is taking over. :faint:

My P5 is changing EL teacher as her teacher will also be going for some training. Actually hoping the \"new\" teacher will improve their scores.

hi pardon me for being a little confused, as far as i know of, there isn't any male non s'porean teacher in p4.. in fact i dont think there is any non sporean male tr in the school at the moment. may i know which class your chilld is in? just curious 🙂

errmm i thought all the P4 form are either male teachers or single ladies? and LM is a very senior teacher

We came to a conclusion that it's better to get senior citizen teachers as they are less likely to be pregnant. For the male teachers, if they are locals, they potentially need to go for reservist. I think we are quite \"lucky\" this year as my p4 is taught by a male non-sporean teacher.

For P5, my dd FT teaches them science and maths while EL is taught by another teacher.

However for my p1, her single teacher injured herself and has been out of school for a few months. However, since it's only P1 and low risk, we just leave it.

From what he told my kids, I thought he was from Msia or maybe he passed the reservist age... Not sure if he is a sporean now :? He is a new teacher who just joined at the beginning of the year.

This is new to me. The class position isn’t reflected on the report book but instead, we are given a clear breakdown of the class and cohort marks for both form class and chinese class. Is this the normal practice?

i believe this is a new initiative by the school. going forward, only have class positioning at the end of the year. no more level positioning from this year but top 3 in level at the end of the year will still receive a prize.

think it is good to have the summary table on the class and level max, min, mean etc marks for each subject. we can have a better indication of where our kids stand in class and in standard. positioning is secondary.

                Yes, I agree with 7788.

When they do away with level ranking last year, it left us jittery on no basis of benchmark. Personally, having class ranking information is useless as it doesn’t tell much.

However with the initiative on the class and level scores this year, I think that is a good initiative. It gives parents a good indication of where their kids stand and how they compare to the cohort. But at the same time spare the kids the stress of their class/ level ranking. Especially those who are not doing too well. I think their initial objective has been achieved.

7788, your ds is now in Taiwan now? I heard the trip had to be brought forward? My P4 ds is going to Beijing this sunday… Now I am feeling alittle jittery about him losing his stuff as they are mostly staying in hotels. Unlike the Nanjing trip, where my dd stayed in school hostel.

my boy is staying in 3 different hotels during this 8D7N trip…hope he manages to pack everything back.

which teachers are going to beijing with the kids?

😆 Yes, I pity the principal and VP, they are always there to send and fetch the kids.... Imagine we need to be at airport at 6.35am on sunday..... so she has to be at the airport at different hours of the day.... In addition, my boy is coming back on saturday 11+pm flight.... So she has to be there again.

The teachers in charge is Mr Goh (think he is in charge of wushu). I like it that they have 2 other senior teachers going along.... Mrs Han???? the disciplinary mistress. Haha I was 😆 so lucky for him so he better behaves himself. Another senior teacher whom I don't know her name. Mrs Han is in charge of his group.

Yes.... we were telling him not to leave his things around. Also, check before checking out.... He was like... like what daddy always do???? They are staying at the sports school hotel as well as another beijing hotel. So only 2.

I actually have to catch a flight to catch this sunday. 2 hours apart so I am going to go in with them and monitor him 😉

                      Dear MBS Parents,

I do not have any kids studying in MBS currently but my husband and I are very interested to enrol our son (born in 2008) in this school as my husband has a few friends who graduated from this school and he finds that they have very good character and personality. Hence, he is really impressed with the high standards of MBS.

I read from another thread that I could gather more information from the parents of MBS and hence, I would greatly appreciate if someone could help to address my concern.

As we are not staying within 2km of the school, the only way my son can qualify is under phase 2B. I called up SBF and was told that I need to have 2 referrals in order to apply to be member and go through the 'gui yi" ceremony. It’s totally fine with me since I’m a buddhist and some of my aunties and cousins already went though the "gui yi" ceremony. But I’m not sure if individual membership is acceptable. Another question is where can I find 2 referrals???

Hope some kind soul can help me. Many thanks!

Jfmum, I m not aware of the gui Yi ceremony n the 2 referrals. 4 years ago when I called SBF to enquire, they just told me that I need to get a director fr SBF to issue the recommendation letter. So it was for us to see if we know anyone there who could help. What I understand from reading earlier discussions is that they do not accept individual mbership now. Not sure if they hv changed the rule.
