It is counted as CCA.GiftedGem:
Herbie : Thanks for sharing. My nephew who is in RI Sec 1 currently shared w me that DSA for RI will assess from P4- P6 mid year. The child will have to maintain 80% score to go direct for 2nd interview. ( Skip the GA test). For those who cannot achieve 80%, have to sit for GA test. But having said that, I was told that each year, the schools will change the requirements. For RGS, they focus only P6 mid year.
Toxic118 : She only participates in the CEP which is compulsory. That is CCA. On top of it, the sch offers HCL Enrichment. Both the days already keeps her occupied.
Is CEP considered CCA? Thought it was part of GEP required curriculum. :scratchhead: -

Hi
I'm asking on behalf of a friend who is currently overseas. Her son is interested to DSA. A little background, they been away since the boy was a toddler. He is currently in a gifted programme in his school (his younger brother as well). The boy has insufficient exposure to the language and has an exemption for PSLE. However, is interested to pursue Malay in upper levels. Can anyone share the number of malay boys in the GEP cohort or a class? Is this a rare sight? (for younger boy) How many take malay in RI? any in HI? Thank you
Hi, sweetbaby, DS said there's two Malay boys in the other class in his school. Hope that helps, cheers

Suggest you check out the RI website wrt to DSA still the application is currently open. Based on my understanding, RI only look at P5 year end and P6 mid year result similar to RGS. Currently, I am applying for DSA to RGS for my DD.Herbie : Thanks for sharing. My nephew who is in RI Sec 1 currently shared w me that DSA for RI will assess from P4- P6 mid year. If the P6 mid year result is more than 80% --> don't need to take GAT and can proceed to the interview stage.
less than 80% has to take GAT.

2/3 of the Geppers are boys. Well, girls tend apply for DSA to RGS/RJC and NYGH/HCI
Really? I din know that there are more GEP boys than girls. That also implies the girls have better chance for DSA of their choices. Haha ! My DD classmates are already talking abt their preferred sec schs and they can name these few - RGS, NYGS and Hwa Chong. -
Herbie:
Thanks for the clarification. For RGS, I got the source from my DD's form tr that they review at P6 mid year only. While reading the thread on DSA, it seems scary to know that these Geppers have been rejected. One commented to apply DSA if your score is abv 80. Real hurdle for these kids.

Some of DS1's ex-classmates in GEP also didn't do well for PSLE last year with some didn't even manage to get 250. Probably due to the fact that they only start to prepare for PSLE from June onwards .... so scary.
