Herbie : Thanks for sharing. My nephew who is in RI Sec 1 currently shared w me that DSA for RI will assess from P4- P6 mid year. The child will have to maintain 80% score to go direct for 2nd interview. ( Skip the GA test). For those who cannot achieve 80%, have to sit for GA test. But having said that, I was told that each year, the schools will change the requirements. For RGS, they focus only P6 mid year.

Suggest you check out the RI website wrt to DSA still the application is currently open. Based on my understanding, RI only look at P5 year end and P6 mid year result similar to RGS. Currently, I am applying for DSA to RGS for my DD. πŸ™‚

If the P6 mid year result is more than 80% --> don't need to take GAT and can proceed to the interview stage.

less than 80% has to take GAT.

U may also wish to read up the thread on DSA. http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=157&p=768084#p768084

Thanks for the clarification. For RGS, I got the source from my DD's form tr that they review at P6 mid year only. While reading the thread on DSA, it seems scary to know that these Geppers have been rejected. One commented to apply DSA if your score is abv 80. Real hurdle for these kids.
Ya, that's what i saw in the DSA thread whereby many of the GEPPERS got rejected. Some of DS1's ex-classmates in GEP also didn't do well for PSLE last year with some didn't even manage to get 250. Probably due to the fact that they only start to prepare for PSLE from June onwards .... so scary.

It is not so simple as reviewing p6 result, other sch also asked for p5 ca2 result.

NUSHS asks for P4 results onwards .... GEP or Mainstream, they dun care much ...

Any one know what's the average for the various schools ? I did a rough calculation based on CT1 results given, its about 77.9% for Nan Hua ...

Hi dagong99, how did u work out the average? That's amazing πŸ†’
DS scored 82% overall, can't ask for more :boogie: Without SS, it would be 79%.
The average for Math scares me: 86.2%.

Oh, if your DS is from NH, you will receive a small note that shows the 2 GEP classes High, Ave & Low for each subject, so I add up the average score for all subjects to derive the average for the school. Hope is correct. πŸ˜‚ Is that the way you compute for your DS ?

Is CEP considered CCA? Thought it was part of GEP required curriculum. :scratchhead:

              It is counted as CCA.

Not for my son sch . He needs to take at least a CCA

Just meet teachers this morning. Clarified with their science teacher (HOD) social study is counted for the average of P4,P5 & P6 GEP.

So it looks strange why NY doesn’t count into their averages, unless they have different criteria.

Sounds like my DS2 too. Maybe they are friends honeymooning together in front of the computer .... :hugs:

Not suprising at all. I think letting him joining Robotic club is a mistake as he's so engross with it and spend so much time playing those batteries operated toys on and offline as well.

Hi toxic118, my ds also has Robotic as his CCA! Now I guess your DS is one of my ds's best friends. πŸ˜„

They will have 4 days concentrate training next week for the upcoming Robotics competition right?

Yes, because of the training and competition, he end up have to skip his INfocomm class which fall on the same day as the training and also have to skip the Science centre outing which fall on the same day as the competition day.
Anybody have more info on the Chinese 'small reporter day camp' outing on 28th May? Are other school involve? Where are they going?
