I did. I must say the experience with both the hardware and software was good.

Nonetheless, school should be careful not to oversell on the golf. There is a lot more on the character building program that can be showcased and that which could make the school stand out in a positive manner.

My wife, DD and I went to the open house day. The hardware and program is good. However, I am still not sure how acadamically the school has been done for the past few years. I do buy the ideas of character building, but PSLE still counts in terms of kids future. I have talked to some students in P5. They have mentioned that there is not very much pressure from the school in terms of PSLE. I am not sure if it is a good or bad.

Can you share with us if the school has any plan to boost the PSLE scores? When we choose a school, those with a good system to produce better results will give the parent confidence. As navel base is in the list of 71 primary schools to be upgraded from 2013 onwards. I hope the school can put more resources into the acadamic programs to boost the overall performance.

After all, I feel the open house is successful in showcasing the bright spot of navel base. It makes my family comfortable with the school, however I still have the question mark in mind in terms of acadamics.

hi all, done a quick check regarding certain matters brought up by parents.

I think character building programs in NBPS are strong so students there are able to distinguish right from wrong better which will also put in place their desire and objective to study. P6 academics are emphasized by the fact that there are lots of ict integrated programs for students to be more self-directed instead of being over-reliant on teachers. All that's done benefits children in the long run as we can see from results in the past 3 years.

Well that's from my friend in there. They have also gotten quite a number of transfer students from chongfu and northland as well.
Like I said, choose the school that suits your child and everything can fall
          In place πŸ™‚

          Goodluck to all parents!!

I think the character building program is really a distinctive feature as compared to a lot of other schools which are much more academically focused.

I do hope that the school continues with its good efforts in this area, and whatever upgrading there may be, this will not affect its thrust in character building.

May I know what is the meaning for ict programs?

I thought many schools start to put into all lot of effort and give guidence to student at P5 & P6 to score well in PSLE. That is where the pressure comes. It may not be a bad thing at such a critial period. Teacher does play a very important role on this in terms of choosing papers at the right level and setting the right standard. I believe different school use different kind of papers for all subjects. Those papers can train the kids well if its standard matchs or exceed the one for PSLE. I am not sure if this is the way of practice at navel base, Jiemin, chongfu or northland. Eventually, there are differences in terms of acadamic performance among the four schools. Since the hardware are more of less the same, I am wondering what makes up the differences.

Frankly speaking, in terms of hardware, I feel number one is chongfu, and number 2 is navel base.

ICT programs are programs that make use of technology during lessons. They are rather integrated into the lesson to make it more engaging.

by the way i will try and feed back certain matters to NBPS as well.
Thank you all parents for your kind input πŸ™‚

I sincerely believe that no child should be left behind which is why NBPS left a deep impression on me with their strong character programs and culture.
Anyway, I do know all parents want the best for your children but like i said, the best might not be the best for your child. Hope my 2 cents worth will make your decision a little easier sometimes πŸ˜‰

                  Hi, Shintutor

How do you feel the quality of the students at NBPS? especially their manners and attitude? I heard stories that some of school students do not carry a good attitude outside of the school, of course that may not represent all. I am just a bit concerned as I find NBPS did not achieve award on character development in 2011 based on website of MOE.

Can you help to enlightern me on this?

                  Thank you.

If you are generally looking at their manners and attitudes I believe that NBPS do have majority of them on the respectful side. I think maybe for the school to achieve CD, they have to have a certain plan and process in place to apply for it which are not disclosed to me obviously haha. Nevertheless, the school culture has always been like that thus the management team might have taken this area for granted since the students are already well adapted to be respectful to teachers. They are still isolated cases with regards to them misbehaving outside school but i am sure all schools will have a chance of having students like that. What is important is whether they learn from their mistakes though.

The internal processes in school are not made clear to me so this is just my personal opinion of it so hope it helps though.

                      Hi,

My boy will be transferring to NBPS from term 4. I have enrol him in the Daybeak Centre for after school care which finishes at 6.30pm.

The school bus is unable to send him back home as they only operates at 2pm.

Any assistance if there is a school bus that can pick him in the evening from NBPS to either Woodlands Ave 1 or Yishun St 81 would be greatly appreciated.

how old is your boy ? maybe you might want to let him try going back on his own ? seems that for school bus services you might want to call the school directly
