What are the charges for Kent Ridge like for p5 math? My son used to be at TLL, but found it too hard, then we switched to X-factor, still too hard…now thinking of trying Kent Ridge or Mind stretcher.

my dd was at kent ridge (TB) previously and shes now at TLL. I agree that TLL can be much more harder especially if u dnt hv a strong foundation in maths, I left krtc some 2 yrs back but their charges are not high, they have different packages eg. lower price if u pay for a term, i dnt knw whats the price today buy definitely very reasonable... their more exam based so i think ur child is more suited for krtc or mindstretchers.
thanks, I will see if his class is available at Jurong West branch.

I dont know how whether he teaches at jurong, I used to go to tb or toapayoh but do call and check, Mr wong does make his class interesting for kids, takes the boredom away frm maths. Oh dear Ive got nothing but praises for him and my kid is not with Krtc cos of his timing. 😄

My child was with Mr Wong last year. No doubt, he thoroughly enjoyed his class. only until towards the end of the course, I found out the real reason why he liked to attend his class so much. The tutor will actually send the students out to another room to play Wii. I don't understand how the teacher do his teaching with the kids taking turn to disappear from his class to go out to play game. Well, my child in the end did not do well. I guess partly it was my thought that I did not check, only knowing that he enjoyed going to his class and thought it was okay.
I also heard that, he has many students under him but the percentage of A* is really not that high. Perhaps too much fun.
My DS is still with Mr wong for the math. I checked his paper after his lesson and found out he taught more than school. This was good but whether can the kid absorb it, was a question. i had to re-visit his question with him again else not a good idea to leave him alone in Mr wong class.

Thanks moonee. Some others have recommended some math centres at Novena. Will go check them out as well before deciding.

That is a Lot my its almost $500 for one subject that is really expensive are you taking other subjects because my Son P6 is in Kent Ridge Tuition Centre in Bedok Branch, we are only paying half of that for 2 subject.

My son is progressing real slow at first but you can really see the improvement after his SA1.
I think its a matter of finding the correct tutor they have 2 tutors for each subject I think.
I tried 2 of their tutor as the first one my son don’t find her motivating. But when my son tried the second one I can see he is becoming interested in attending the lessons. And He do really improve a lot.
For his maths no need to try the other tutors as she is good. Science is also good.
One thing is that their tutors have really different teaching methods and different materials.
For me Kent Ridge tutors is good. They met my standard

Wow 22 in one class is really big and I thought 15 was big enough already.

That for me really is not a good idea to put my child there I will settle with 10 but more than that I don’t think so might as well look for another tuition centre. Which centre is your friend from kitty?
My son is in Bedok Branch and they are only 3 of them there their maximum they tell me is 8 students only and that’s also the number of chairs they have in the room.
They don’t have standardize Syllabus and I find it Unique and interesting, I have been observing how their tutors teach and see that even though it’s a group tuition they still cater to each student individually. That’s why I think its good they don’t have standard Syllabus as their tutors are creating their own material tailored for the students. At first I find it strange each centre have different teaching materials; I transferred from their Tampines Branch to Bedok Branch, then they explain to me that if they have standard syllabus how can they help the student improve as each of them have different learning capabilities. And they do have lesson plan that follows MOE syllabus but they still do extra worksheets to help improved your child’s learning
