My DD


English: 86 something
Maths: 76 something
Chinese: 58 something

My eyes were so distracted by the Chinese grade that I foolishly forgotten to note down the exact marks for each subject, hence the 'something'.
After the PTC this morining, was still in a daze when I realised that my DD will be in 'streamed' into the 5th Chinese class according to her Chinese result.
She ranked 120 out of 180 students with Chinese as Mother tongue.

According to the teacher, P3 streaming would be based on Pri 2 results.
Those with average score of >90 would be in the 1st 2 classes.

Told my DD that I'm still proud of her results cos I know she has been paying attention in class and working hard.

Told her that we would work hard together this June holidays to do some catching up.
My 'O' Level is A2 wan ley, I die die dun believe I can't coach my DD in her Chinese.
I told myself I die die won't enroll her for Chinese tuition.

I intend to send my son to FVPS nex year. I have read thru most of the thread and would like to thank the parents for their updates. Just feeling slightly nervous. But I guess sending my son to a school that is walking distance has some advantages.


By the way heard that Sengkang Green Pri Sch would start in 2013. Both school are so close. Not sure if sending him to a band new school has any significant disadvantages

I just browse through Sengkang Green Pri's website (http://www.sengkanggreenpri.moe.edu.sg/cos/o.x?c=/wbn/pagetree&func=view&rid=1163666), think they had an inhouse studentcare.

My gal was streamed to care 2 chinese class based on her Chinese results last semester. Initially, it was teacher lee teaching care 2 class but they changed to teacher Cai. Based on gal’s recent feedback, I find teacher cai a bit Bo chap. During the last semester, my gal was given a worksheet with lots of colourful pictures which the teacher is still giving this semester. However, teacher cai told her that she don’t hv to submit it to her and I can mark her worksheets. Maybe I am too sensitive abt the teaching style of different teachers, I prefer strict teachers.

Teacher lee will collect the worksheets and give the students deadline to finish the worksheet, which I find it is necessary for P1 kids as they are still adapting to primary school. Anyone’s kids in care 2 Chinese class? I don’t like the streaming of Chinese class as it is based mostly on the hanyu pin yin results which is not an accurate gauge of a child’s Chinese level, at least not in P1.

From what I understand from the Chinese Teacher at the Parent Teacher Meeting, the Care 1 & 2 are the top two class for Chinese, they will stream them accordingly to the results.

I am not too sure how the teacher’s style is, yet to find out.

My most important question to my DD is do you understand what the teacher is saying?
