What if child with mild & high iq, where is suitable for them?

go for Mainstream, as yours is high functioning.

have another friend whose daughter is mild autistic.
She's now in Upper primary, coping & studying well.

If her mum didn't tell me she's austistic, one would never suspect that she's one. The girl speaks fluently, speak / write good English.
When she saw me the other day, she said this, \"hi Auntie, Oh Yes! i remembered you. You came to my house a few times when i was a little girl.\" When i read some of her essays her mum show me, they were well written.

i asked her mother, \"Why you said she's autistic ? She looks perfectly all right to me!\" Her mom replied, \"Intellectually, she's fine. But emotionally, she's cold. The spectrum of autism is very wide.\"

in this unique case, both parents are doctors.

devasting... .. how i wish there a machine to scan ASD brain, to see which area they are disconnected in their brain, rather then keep saying Spetrum is wide...

each day i see my son is trying so hard, its sooo hurtful.. is not that he dont want, he jus cannot...

Take it easy, I see that my son struggle in Mainstream too. Not only that, I can also see that his classmates discrimnate him. For the best of his interests, I think its best for us to take a step back, and put him in a special school where the pace is slower.

Helplessmum if he is frustrated doing things that he cannot cope at this juncture, would it be good to consider stepping back in terms of the pace and level? Let him take the lead in terms of the pace. He is still young and there is still quite a big window.

              ImMeeMee,

I once saw something that we cannot hav low expectation for them.
Also early intervention mus be as young as possible

Yes, u are lucky. I’m lucky too. At least they can function and have a decent life. Many famous pp are like that too.

My boy is called ‘the noti boy’ by his classmates and in any class that he goes to coz he doesn’t conform to social norms. I guess I have to teach him how to behave as close as possible to the NT kids. He’s still walking around in class. Sigh.

Why they label them ? I feel if that the case other NT also consider ASD in some point if one of their brain is disconnect to certain components like they can learn or difficult in learning . Whereas ours has not difficulties in learning , they just no socialize or interact skill
