      Hi Chen,

Will you be holding any talks for parents on motivating young children (5-6 year old)?

My kids probably aren’t the naturally motivated kind when it comes to doing work (at home at least) …so hopefully if I can have some strategy in place before they hit formal primary school years, it could save me much heartache and depression later on….

Actually at this age, I am alternating between the thoughts ‘Why can’t they do their work independently?’, and ‘Am I expecting too much….?’…
      Thanks.

Yes... I will. Let me get the book out first and I will launch talks like this. Patience... It takes a lot longer to format a book than I thought. All \"behavior\" needs to change to \"behaviour\".... all \"organization\" has to become \"organization\"... all dates, facts and numbers to be checked and re-checked... multiple readings to ensure that dry research in psychology is made layman easy in the same way that I make it easy in the earlier posts on this thread.

It's easy to write short posts and make them easy to understand. It is harder to convert research into layman easy when it is a 300+ page book. I also need to delete some stuff because the book is too thick, with its practical case studies... anecdotes... and theories. I'm about there. We're just being very stringent on the details because the big things have been resolved in the previous 3 vettings by 9 people.

Right now, I am re-reading everything with a Reading Companion to discuss every line... a bit more to go. Patience please.

                    Hi Chenonceau

                    Thanks for sharing.

My p3 gal used to be hardworking and took initiative to complete her work. However, I feel there's a change in her since last yr which I'm worried. She became rude (to me) and she needs me to constantly nag at her to complete her work. Haiz

How can I get a copy of ur book?

                    Thank u
Hi Both... the book will be launched when the Intellectual Property protection process is complete. I reckon this will be in August or so. I am trying not to hurry through this so as not to compromise the quality of the book.

It will NOT be sold in the major bookshops. I will sell it online (like Onsponge) in Singapore through my blog ... and internationally, via Amazon, eventually. It will take me a while to get it to Amazon though. I will try to satisfy international demand from Singapore first. If and only if I cannot cope with the logistics volume, will I rope in Amazon.

I am so sorry that I have not yet set up the Book Order Form as yet. Those who have pre-ordered the book have had to leave me a comment on the relevant blogpost with all the information I ask for. This isn't exactly user friendly, I know. I hadn't exactly planned to put up the blog pages so fast. I was playing with the functions on Blogger.Com... and published the pages to get a look and feel. Within 10 minutes 2 people placed orders for the book via the Comments Box and I decided not to take down the pages. So... the blog pages are still Work-in-Progress.

                    All should complete by August.

The Book Order Form will be ready by end of next week. In the lead-up to the Book Launch, I will be writing Special Issue Blogposts on various aspects of Human Motivation which you may find interesting. These pages will give potential customers a good feel of what to expect from the book. I have to do this because readers will not have the opportunity to browse the book otherwise. Since I couldn't put everything I know into the book, I still have plenty else to blog about.

I have sent both of you a Private Message.

                      Here is the last strategy...

                      (3) Repair the emotional umbilical cord. If a child withdraws completely from the parent, it may be a response to stop negative emotional contagion from coming through the emotional umbilical cord. The link is therefore blocked/damaged. Of all the motivation strategies available for use, it is Emotional Connection that I use most. As long as the connection is strong and allows quick flowthrough, I have at all times a powerful tool to resource my children. Through this cord, I can feed emotional strength, hope and courage. If this cord is damaged, I cannot feed the healing emotions that will help my child stand up again after disappointment and catastrophe. Strategies (1) and (2) above could go some way in repairing this emotional link between parent and child.
Oh, Chen, that was just beautiful. I'm having crisis after crisis with Eldest Son. There are days when I feel like giving him up for adoption. I want to get my baby back!!! Ok, I'm gonna get your book! Thanks so much!!!!

Hahaha... kam siah. Though... the book isn't on improving relationships... it's about motivating your child to WANT to study. However, if a parent can properly motivate, the relationship will improve.
