      :scratchhead: :scratchhead: Hi - have trouble with these problems:

      Q3. There are 65 lamp posts along St. Andrew's Street. The lamp posts are arranged such that the distance between two lamp posts on the same side of the street is 20m. One lamp post is on the opposite side of the street at an equal distance between the two lamp posts. How long is St Andrew's Street? Ans: 640m

      Thank you.

      Hi - nd help with the above problems. Thank you.

      Hi

      Q3.

      It is not clear from the question how the lamp posts are arranged, but I believe the intended arrangement is as follows:

      Length of Andrew’s street = 32 x 20 m = 640m

      cheers.

        :scratchhead: :scratchhead: Hi - have trouble with these problems:

        Q1. If Darren gives 12 of his seashells to Kim, he will have 4 times as many seashells as Kim. If Darren gives another 4 more seashells to Kim, he will have thrice as many seashells as Kim. How many seashells does Kim have? Ans: 4

        Thank you.

        Hi - nd help with the above problems. Thank you.

        Hi

        Q1.
        Scenario 1: If Darren gives 12 seashells to Kim, Darren : Kim --> 4 : 1
        Scenario 2: If Darren gives 4 more to Kim, Darren : Kim --> 3 : 1
        Total number of seashells remains the same...(make total = 20)
        Scenario 1: Darren : Kim --> 16u : 4u }
        Scenario 2: Darren : Kim --> 15u : 5u } 1u --> 4
        Number of seashells Kim has = 4 x 4 - 12 = 4

        cheers.

          :scratchhead: :scratchhead: Hi - have trouble with these problems:

          Q2. A flask is 1/3 filled with chocolate powder. A teapot, twice as large as the flask, is 1/4 filled with chocolate powder. Then the flask and the teapot are each filled with water completely and all the contents are mixed together into a chocolate drink. What fraction of the chocolate drink is the chocolate powder?

          Thank you.

          Hi - nd help with the above problems. Thank you.
          Hi

          Q2.
          Volume of flask --> 12 units, chocolate powder --> 4 units
          Volume of teapot --> 24 units, chocolate powder --> 6 units
          Chocolate powder, total --> 10 units
          Volume of chocolate drink --> 36 units
          chocolate powder as fraction of chocolote drink = 10/36 = 5/18

          cheers.

                http://i49.tinypic.com/21b9d08.jpg\">[/quote]Hi

                3 Mangoes = 5 grapefruits = 10 pears = 30 units
                1 Mango -- 10 units
                1 Grapefruit -- 6 units
                1 Pear -- 3 units

                1 Mango : 1 grapefruit : 1 pear
                = 10:6:3
