troubled,

I’ve never personally used CGC, but know relatives and friends who have. CGC can diagnose, review, and also arrange for therapy sessions, BUT the queue is very long, the time lag between the sessions are also very long. To help a child in need, sessions have to be much closer together, OR the parent should take a very active role and try to learn home therapy techniques during the sessions so that the parent can implement it at home on a daily basis.

Those who can afford it will usually turn to private avenues after a while. Private sessions can be once or twice a week, depending on the child’s condition and family circumstances. But they are very expensive. The best is still to find a good therapist/books for guidance, and then learn as much as you can to implement things at home on a daily basis.
Hi Pls pm me too. I have brought my girl to see a counsellor in Child Guidance Clinic but of no help. She just told us to be patience and be consistent. sigh.....

Did she see Carolyn Kee?Heard she's good.I think all the psychologist always said the same thing,be patientand let the child grow at his own phase.

Not Carolyn, is a counselor from middle east. She is going back to her country as the clinic did not renew her contract. Hopefully the next one would be better. My girl has taken the Adhd test and she is fine. Is her anger mgr...she threw tantrum almost daily. I'm losing patience.
Hi Village Girl, is it possible for you to pm me the counsellor and clinic too. thks

Any parents can make comments on the services rendered by Child Guidance Clinic (CGC) at HPB runs by IMH and Child Development Unit at NUH? Any comparisons? I also understand that KK will only see children 6 yo and below. My child needs an assessment, am wondering which to go to.

          Thanks
