Need to ask some stupid questions.

Was filling up the application form for ACS - DSA. Not sure where these fall under
      - international
      - national
      - school

      1. NMOS
      2. SMOP
      3. Annual Mathlympics

Any response would be appreciated. Otherwise guess gotta call school tomorrow.

these are national level, academic competitions

APMOPS is considered as international because there are participants from China, Vietnam etc etc

Thanks. Just got a little confused when their guide wrote MO - international. Guess I'll be specific then can settle 🙂

National level math olympiads are :

NMOS, SMOPS, RI World Math, ACS’s MO (can’t remember what name), SMO Junior

        International level :

APMOPS, PLK (HK), AMC (America), AMC (Australian)

UNSW assessment on math is not MO

The above are the usual math contests S’pore kids participate

There was 2 rounds of interview and 2 written situational tests all done within 3 hours.

Situational test is different from GAT(mostly test on logic). Situational test will be tested more on how you react given a problem. I guess they are more keen to find out how the kid would react and the ability to solve problem given a situation. Hence, it is a written test and not multiple choice as those GAT required by RI or VS. SJI focus is more on leadership capability then just purely academic success I suppose.

Any one went to RI GAT already? Heard from my DS classmates that it was quite difficult, 60min for 60 questions. Remember last year is 20 min for 60 questions?

According to my ds, it was 20 mins for 60 questions and he could not manage to finish all. Just merely able to complete 48 questions.
