Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools

However, most parents end up making decisions that they think are the best for their children. But, are they? JMHO.uh cos we're only average salary workers and as parents we all want \"the best for our children\".
just that everyone else has a plan except us (friends come from good primary schools) and now we're panicking!
we're a little too laidback and now feeling the pressure of not doing enough for our kids... people are asking us which school we sending our kids and we're like uhhhh....
Anyway, you know you are late in doing anything now. Does panic help? Does feeling desperate help? Eliminate the \"noise\" in the environment and you will feel better. No point fretting over something that you cannot control. If you are registering this year, there is really nothing much you can do even if you panic and feel desperate. So, just let nature takes its own course.
BTW, we didn't do anything for our children, too. They are now in a happily studying in a neighbourhood school. -

If you are registering for your child next year and you are looking at schools in Bt Merah area, you may like to consider Radin Mas Pri. You are not too late for apply for PV in RMPS. -

I understand your panic. for 2 years, I had been bugging the sch that is 10min walk from my home for a shot at applying as a pv as the sch typically has balloting within 1km in phase 2c which I was then eligible. Having been turned away at least 4 times n told to check with them again only to be faced with no available jobs for interested pv wannabe. I wAs frustrated n felt helpless. When there r no longer preferred options available, we then moved on - no choice - to look at plan B n C while planning to give a shot at balloting.
If u have a sch near your place that is not too bad, the close proximity is already an advantage. At this point, focus on which nearby sch is a better fit and if that does not work out in the next few years, the window of opportunity for transfer to preferred sch may still be there so long u make a move to join your preferred sch's waitlist for transfer asap. Have hope, but life will still go on. You will be surprised that most times, kids themselves r not bothered about the name of the sch so long they have fun, make friends n lucky to meet good teachers. Seeing them fit in will be priority for most of us, right?
