I think that's precisely why horizontal grills replace vertical grills since the latter give an impression of prison bars..

As for the bay windows, some of my friends actually custom made some cushions to be placed on top and their kids can actually sit there, relax and read a book. Another of my friend did a foldable study table since it is near to the windows. Nice concept if you know how to use it. πŸ˜‰

Another thing I find ridiculous about the new designs, be it condo or flats. Windows that cannot be opened. Seems the trend is such that a huge middle portion of the window is a fixed glass panel and only 2 small side panels can be opened.

          Cost cutting

Problem with those windows is the ones that can be opened are at the side. Unless you use blinds, chances are it will be blocked by the curtains. So even when opened, it provides little air circulation.

not really I feel, more for 'unobstructed view' especially for those condo units facing pools or greenery. The room can be very stuffy and hot bec it's full glass and the side windows are so miserably narrow.

I only open the center 2 panel of windows even though there are 6 panels. Based on past experience, lizards tend to enter the house from the side of the exterior walls, so it’s better to shut the side windows
