I feel there is already too many cars on the road..

Why don't they divide the COE into 2 groups.. one is the bidding for those with excess cash to bid all they like.. and the other group for ballot.. and for the ballot group, those who exceed a certain income cannot ballot.. like HDB income celling..

And the end result is the same.. control the number of cars on the road..

But also provide an opportunity for those who really need to own a car to be able to own it at an affordable price.

At the same time, it should improve the public transport, so that there is less incentive for pple to own cars..

With more efficient transport system, it will lead to a greener environment too..

Perhaps also limit to one car person OR one car per household!! And second car has to pay a hefty tax.... i know of 2 adults - 4 cars!!

Aiyoh, I think so many post here has gone off topic. Pls read the thread header again.

I think to be fair, everyone has mix feeling for our country. Nothing in this world is perfect. Some has more negative feeling about Sinhapore than positive ones and vice versa. For one to say any thing negative in this thread does not imply they do not have somethings that they love Singapore about. It is just so that it is a thread for forum members to vent out their frustrations instead of repressing their bad feelings.

Perhaps, limlim can start a thread on "what I love about Singapore" and we can all add more videos and positive comments to celebrate our countryโ€™s success.

My heart is here in Singapore & as far as I foresee, I want to stay in Singapore still. Of course I have some grouses, but nothing major enough. As long as our govt is striving to improve & take care of the majority of our people esp those who are helpless & lower income.

The only 2 places that I think I'll like are Switzerland & Japan. But then again, being tourist there we're like a person who saw someone beautiful on the outside, little on the insides. After seeing a beautiful woman or handsome man, we go home & start complaining & comparing with our average looking spouse, forgetting the goodness of our spouse & their inner beauty.

I have relatives who migrated, said so much bad things about SG. Gave up their SG citizenship....well, you can hear some regrets in their tone tho they refused to admit it. Life wasn't as rosy as they thot at the other country & the irony is, they dare not put their excess $ in the new country, instead park it back in SG.
