What I hate about the current Singapore

I concur with you, toddles, really need to appeal to the government to handle and manage this fairly for the elderly.
Dont ever expect any concrete action to be taken. Our dear gah men is well known for paying lip service only. -

Limlim, don't understand, what has the above got to do with my household income? Why the question? What's the national median?
I speculate that your household income is above national median.. :evil:Imami:
I am not perfect but my child loves me anyway. Maybe this is also how I feel about my home, Singapore. -

All are mature? Questionable.
Now I wonder if this post of mine is going to get deleted for trying to be honest.

yep yep.. stakes are damn high now!! i didnt confront my maid when she started chatting with foreign workers and getting friendly with them.. i straightaway get her to pack up and go.. cos the stakes are too high for me!! imagine i confront her or scold her, she could have done something to my mum who is immobile or my young boys..
haha, the line in red made me laff!
anyway none of us here are young, all lao peh lao bu already....
but i guess once we are parents, somehow we care more about what Singapore is, what Singapore becomes? suddenly the stakes are higher, and life is not just about ourselves?
perhaps also cos there are very specific policies and costs that affect us as parents. I think July's gonna be a real stressful month for those with firstborns entering pri sch...
certain policies are really putting us singaporeans are a disadvantage, like it or not, its happening!!!! previously all my contractors in the supervisory level are locals, now? all suddenly become FTs.. and crap is, they dun even bloody understand our language, how to get things done on site??? yet cos of price cutting, its happening.. my mum used to tell me, if i dun study hard, i will become a road sweeper when i grow up.. now? i cant even be a bloody road sweeper cos its all taken by FT anyway..
dun really dare to imagine wat kinda life my kids will be experiencing if things do not improve.. the GE last yr really opened my eyes, more than 5 million ppl on this island, less than half are voters, minus the below 21.. how many are non singaporeans? -

position all taken up by cheaper, better and faster… elderly had to collect aluminium cans/cardboard to make ends meet…
mcdonalds even must be able to converse in simple english
how many elderly can do that? -
ahkeong:
Indeed.... Ahkeong, you have given me yet another reason to be thankful - I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to go to school, get a decent job, earn a living and been able to provide for my parents and my parents in law so that their sunset years are relatively worry-free. It is heart welching to see really old and frail folks picking up empty cans/bottles or clearing the food court tables...but sadly.. even now wanna be road sweeper oso dun have lo..

Normally I try not to contaminate my comments with hostility towards any individuals.. never intended to be that way.. could be some misunderstanding..
A bit notti.. maybe..
