Horizon Primary

virgoinvenus:
hello all,
I will be moving to Punggol in Year 2014 (waiting for TOP).
Me & hubby is deciding to travel to & fro from Yishun (currently staying) for my boy's first year, to enrol into Horizon Pri School, or to do transfer to Horizon only in Pri2.
I think staying through the same school will be better than the child, rite? I scare that he cant adapt in new environment in P2, and difficult to mingle into those grps of frens.. new kid on the block
I saw on Horizon's website tat their open house is on 14th Jul, I will be gg
and Im looking forward.
Btw, may i know what the schooling time for Pri 1?
I need to plan the logistic for his Pri 1, getting him into the student care is the best choice? im still thinking... when do i need to register him for the student care?
Who shall i look out for at the Open House? I should bring my boy along rite? to let him have a feel.
im a lil bit nervous now... a very new milestone for him and for me also..stressed ..haa
Hi virgoinvenus,
Let me try to share my view here.
1) It will be good to have your son to start the P1 with Horizon then transfer him in P2, as he will only need to go through one time of adjustment rather than twice.
In addition, if they have the 100% take-in like this year P1, they may not have slot for the transfer in P2, unless some student transfer out.
2) Horizon is having a single session only. Lesson ends at 1.30pm and there are days ends at 3.30pm
3) The demand for the onsite Student Care is very high, and understand that they try to increase the number of intake. You can only register with them after you receive the confirmation from the school about your son's enrolment. You can visit them during the open house.
4) Yes, the open house is on 14th Jul 2012. Bring your son along, the school will arrange some classes/activities for the kid, to get them have the first experience with the school.
Hope this is useful.

Thank you for the information...now looking fwd for the P1 registration.I got my gal 3 sets each for PE attire and uniform as she change her attire everyday. Currently, my gal used 3 sets of PE attire and 2 sets of uniform weekly. Cost is abt $30+ for uniform and $20+ for pe attire.
Cost of text book is about $100+.
Hope it help.
Will be glad to know more mummies whose kids are in this sch! -
Only higher Chinese is offered.
The school has lot of activities which allow meet up with other parents. So meeting more mummies is not an issue here. -

Hi, my gal is going pri 1 next year, I have arranged a pre visit to the school 2 weeks ago as I'm deciding on registering my gal at 2a2 phrase on 12 and 13th jul or go for Horizon on the 2C phrase. Mdm Anitha the VP take us for an intro tour on the school which is very nice of her. My guesss is that this year the school will have 100 percent intake as the school was mentioned on the Strait Time as well. Hope no need to go into balloting if I go for Horizon at phrase 2C.virgoinvenus:

Yes, Mdm Anitha is a nice lady. In fact, last year they already hit the 100 percent intake by phrase 2C supplement. Almost ran into ballot in P2CS with 4 surplus, and the 4 are all beyond 2KM, so everyone within 2KM is save. This year they have a total of 11 classes of P1. -
Yes, I forgo the balloting chance in CHIJ (1-2km) and went straight to Horizon in 2C (>2km) as I did not want to get stuck in the situation where I got no school in 2CS last year. And true enough, in 2CS phrase, only left with school I didnโt want. So I am very thankful that i went straight to Horizon during 2C. And my gal is enjoying her school life there.

i was told by friend that sch offering only Higher Chinese at lower levels are either considered as chinese-medium school (thou i realized this school have other MT too) or similar to being \"SAP\" schools, is this true for Horizon?
:imcool: Would be honored if Horizon turns into SAP sch within Punggol neighborhood one day. -
Can anyone advise on the quality , curriculum of the in-house student care centre in Horizon Pri? I am forgoing My childโs chance of going to Mee Toh Pri for horizon Pri Bec of the convenience of the in-house student care centre . Hope my decision is correct. Would appreciate someone to share som insights.

Maybe you want to call the after care service to find out more? Also a point to note, acceptance to the school does not confirm placement in the after care centre. Especially with more student now, you may have placement problem.
