      Hi Dewdrops and Paulyn,

My son also in 1H too.
My son is also in 1H. Were you mummies at the PTM last week? Form teacher is fine but I feel that MT teacher is less tolerant towards the kids. She wld call me & tell me my son talks in class. When I asked the form teacher, she says my son discusses work in class.

        Hi all

Can I confirm which of your kids are in 1H? Mine is.

Yes, the MT teacher is quite strict but I appreciate her help. Form teacher was quite tolerating so far although I get more calls and smses from MT teacher.

My boy’s Chinese is very poor so any advice on enrichment? Attempts to enrol him for hanyupinyin classes during June was futile as intake was low at Han Language.

And I was told only homework during June was the English spelling. Nothing else. True??

          Hi Paulyn,

My son is in 1H too πŸ™‚ He's been attending the enrichmt classess with Han Lang on Sats since the beginning of the yr.

His MT is not poor but is not fantastic either. The Sat classes help in a way plus I go thru with him on a dily basis.

True that there is no homework & only Eng spelling. There's P1 camp on Fri in sch during sch hours.

Do they do higher chinese at Han Language? I tried Berries at Woodlands and was surprised that P1 kids are already reading many words.

Is the Han Language at Teck Whye? A bit out of the way but I think I will go for their trial class.

Today, my boy came back with many notices. The diary said they are going to the zoo thur. So the Aug zoo trip is cancelled?

He also wrote that there is health examination on 4 Jul at 10:15am and library auditory test on 6 Jul 10:15am. Then AVA rm wear something that he did not write clearly. Can anyone clarify? πŸ™‚

Han Lang follows rather closely to the MOE syllabus for P1. I chose Han as my son was on the wait list in several places like Berries, Tian Xia, etc. I live in CCK & so wanted a sch within CCK to avoid travelling around too much.

I am quite happy with Han Lang as some of the hypy & han zi spelling were almost similar to those given by the school. As such, my son was learning the ting xie concurrently.

Yes, zoo in Aug has been brought fwd to this Thu. I am 'afraid' of the parent notifications most. All the tests dates! Stressed out when I saw the notification yesterday.

My son only wrote the zoo outing and not the others that you have mentioned! Ah yoh...now I have to go ask my son abt it after work πŸ™‚

Also, still no chinese spelling yet right?

Ok, I will try out Han Language. The one at Teck Whye?

                        Tazyspin:
Any parents out there have encounter any teachers in DLS being 'abusive'?

2 of my oldest children are there but I am not intending to put my youngest there next year. I do not find DLS a holistic learning school anymore. I have mummy complaining to me about her boy being smacked on the hand & hair pulled by the teacher. Recently, my boy encountered with the same teacher. Firstly, he forgot to bring his school homework that's his fault. The teacher called me. His first question to me was \"he did not do or did not bring\"? I told the teacher off for being judgmental. Then the other female teacher, started poking my boy's head becoz he forgot to bring! Apparently, for this lesson there is a female & male teachers. I am just gonna complaint to the office or even MOE.
Second incident, last week the mid & upper pri had their sports day. My gal came back & told me a teacher was so rude to them. 3 of them wanted to go to the toilet. Before they could open their mouth, the teacher said, \"shut up and go away\"! I asked her if she knew the teacher & she said no but he is definitely from DLS.
I wonder are these teacher creating more work for parents when the kids are already drowning in their daily homework, yet we have to do recovery for them! I hv spoken to old students from DLS and they are shocked such teachers are teaching there. As much as we are lacking in teachers, I believe MOE & the school should still be more restringent in selecting their teachers. And what more, a Catholic School! They should constantly reflect on their core values,
And parents can share what would they do given such situation.

Interesting that you shared about this. I have similar experiences about the school as well.

May I know if you have taken any actions?
