I think for a change I would like to post what I love about Singapore compared to Jakarta, the place where I spent my childhood:

- So many nice food here
Compared to Jakarta there is so much more variety of food here, from hawker fares to fine cuisine. Most of the food in Jakarta is mostly fried fried, spicy spicy. Wah, when I first came here I was so baffled at all the food I never eaten before in my life.
- More chio bu here
I have to say this, there are more attractive Singaporean Chinese girls as compared to Indonesian Chinese girls. I know, coz i am married to one and deprived Singaporean guys one chance to marry a local girl.
:rotflmao: so not used to Dreamaurora Talking like that....

Haha, when I walk in a shopping mall in Jakarta maybe out of 10 girls only 1 or 2 are chiobu, but in Singapore the ratio is more like 4 to 10. Singapore girls have nicer faces and legs. But Indo Chinese girls have nicer (.)(.) and fairer skin.

Lack of newspapers, tv and radio station....

We have st, bt, np, zb, wb, xm, 883,913,95,958, channel 5,8,u,news Asia etc but all under one roof... 🤷 Same thing reported everywhere.

Hate the awful eng/Chinese combo radio programme...they suck..especially the am shows on 883,933 :stompfeet:

Hate the food in food court....same stores selling same things everywhere and food so awful.....

Hate the u raise he price, I also must raise the price mentality........

Hate the up to 70% discount but realize only a small selection of awful, hideous stuff is at 70% off...the rest are only 10-20%. What happen to the rest?......

Hate the ambulance with sirens turn on and yet still wait patiently for the traffic light to turn green....

Seems like the hatred is brewing.

Doubt so cos I am always happy when I am back.
There are things I don't like but not enough to drive me away from this island. :imanisland: :imanisland:

Good for you. 🤷 For me, I am having some sort of \"culture shock\" when ever I am back to the country.

I feel that the neighbouring country seems less crowded, less bicycles ringing at me to hurry up, and more space to walk.

When I first brought my wife to Jakarta for the first time, she was so not used to the much slower pace of life. People walk slower, escalators are slower, traffic is slower, etc. And people are also more contented with their lives there. It was an eye opener for her for sure and she appreciated life in sg more afterwards.

Whenever we step out of Singapore, even if it is just across the border, DH and I have to remind ourselves that we are back to the 'normal' pace of life - Singapore is uniquely fast and rush.
Agree. I don't find limlim's posts offending and I don't think mod is referring to limlim.

Ha, you are back. Eh, you still haven't explained your earlier post. The one on national income. I really don't see the connection... :?
well.. from observations, seems like most of those who are \"contended\" are the ones who are quite well-off.. in the sense that they own a car? able to go for holiday overseas like once a year? able to buy brand bags? live in private properties? engage expensive tutors? all or some of the above..

So, I guess, generally, if the person is doing quite well in Singapore ($10k/mth household income? number pluck from thin air) and able to afford most of the things they want.. it is easier to be contended in Singapore.

That's about it..

In other words.. if I make like $10k/mth, I would be contended too.... and feel that Singapore is actually quite a nice place..

Of coz there will be pple who make $20k/mth and still not happy with Singapore..

But I'm just saying.. the lesser the income, the more likelihood of being unhappy with the current Singapore.

I think the problem is if ppl earn 10k/mth they live like they earn 20k/mth coz they think with the increment and bonuses coming along they can do that. Some ppl just didn't think of what if.......

Btw, why so many complaints and hates nowadays? Can't someone start a thread \"What I love about the current Singapore\" to be more positive?
