That’s why with the tough competition RV is going to face, the sch needs to raise n keep up the std of the students as fast as possible to stay ahead!

Since it is still young n growing in neighbourhood, like I said some students are not yet "first class" thus these students will definitely pull down the sch mean T score.
FYI, avg T score of 180 means can go into express stream in Sec schools.

This means 2011 results, with a mean of above 180, mean students manage to get into express stream! So the results n std is in fact rising. But we must accept the fact that there are neigbourhood kids who scored mayb 2 digits only to pull down overall mean score.
Compare to MGS or ACS , St Nick etc u hardly get a neighbourhood child in established these branded sch. Such are some unfair factors to affect a sch T score.

As for tuition, if u want your child to get good results, most parents send their kids to all subjects tuition be it in neighbourhood or branded sch.

Sometimes, I am also puzzled why the exam std are higher or even more difficult than branded sch? But I think, the sch wants the students to work harder n harder…

FYI, all P,Vp, teachers are changing every few yrs, this is a fact of MOE sch. Not just RV only.

          Sunflower mummy:
          Their PSLE T-mean scores:-

          year 2009 - Tscore199.4
          year 2010 - Tscore199.8
year 2011 - Tscore202 (the school website indicated more students scoring 250. Information extracted:- year 2010, 27 students vs year 2011, 33 students)

In my opinion, when I measure the school performance, I look at the school PSLE T-mean score.
With higher T-mean score it is an indicator that the school has done reasonally well and thus most students should able to get into a better secondary school.

Thus what does the above T-mean score indicate? :rahrah:
Hmm. It looks to me (purely personal perception) it is an average school as the result matched well with the National profile. top 10% in 2011=> T-score above 250. If the school has 33 students score 250 or above, out of 330 roughly ( estimated as intake 6 yrs ago was 360).

It would helpful if anyone can provide similar info of another popular school(NC). It looks to me NC offerring more unquie programmes and activities. Of course, I do not have any experience with them. But NC school website really catches my eyeballs with lots of updated information and in par with other popular schools in other areas.

No matter which school my child will be with, as a parent, I still have to coach him, stand by him wholeheartly.

Nobody says this school is a top school in Singapore. It is an average school. Can you imagine the performance of the rest of primary schools like Compassvale, North Vista, Sengkang, etc?

This school can be improved just like Rulang in Jurong. Rulang was a simple primary school in kampong. Teachers used cane, pulled ears and wooden rulers to discipline the students during kampong days. The school gained popularity over the years. Principals changed so many times over the years.

Rivervale is only 12 years old. What to expect? The oldest alumni is only 21 years old. RGS oldest alumni is 133 years old.

True true . Why compare a child with an old n mature n rich adult ? Ha ha!

The Cca is yet to be all rounded probably due to lack of space in the current premise too. hope with the new upgrading , it will be better.

NC is under hokkien clan, thus it is a Aided sch , RV is a pure govt sch. So u know which sch is rich right? Thus unfair to compare facilities n activities provided bet these two sch.

After all , as parents of kids study here, u should support the sch n work closely to make n motivate our kids to benefit the fullest n enjoy pri education here .

Feedback: The school has to revamp prefect selections at P2. These students are selected based on ‘teachers’ pets, their mothers are PVs’. This is purely bias and unprofessional.

Moreover, P2 boys are at disadvantage because boys at this age only know how to play. But they will change once they reach P4/P5/P6. They are not given any more chance to become prefects?

Should adopt sec/JC system. Every year open applications to P3/P4/P5 ranging from first - last class. Open applications who want to become prefects, write testimonials and interviews. No doubt testimonials are written by mothers, but the interviews are solely depend on the child.

Past head prefects were not up to standard. They didnot have strong voice and leadership quality to lead the schools for National Anthem and Pledge. Monfort Junior and ACS pri, they select the head prefects are so solid, can be on par with National Day Parade Commander.

Next year all AM session, I wonder how the traffic gonna to be. The residents living near the school will be non stop calling HDB summon department.

The bus stop will become drop-off point.

The new wings to the school are almost complete. Anyone have details for the inhouse student care?
