      Jennifer:
I was at the sch bookshop this afternoon to collect my set of pre-order books.

First :x have not packed, so our little friend (think relatives /children of the bookshop operators) went around picking the books.

Second :x only 1 Q. After serving a parent, the \"cashier\" walked away, leaving the payment counter cum the only Q unattended. No one came to take up her position. All other parents stood outside the room. I called to our little friend and told him to give me back my booklist if no one wants to collect payment. Then someone came.

Aiyo, I feel like writing a letter to the bookshop to advise them how to run the business.
This is not the first time. they are like this every year. sigh.

        Hi Jennifer

My dd only receive his booklist today:Thursday,21st Nov.
Its stated that collection of books must be at least 5 working days after faxing the book list or submit to school
When did your #2 receive the booklist?

We recd ours last Fri, I faxed on Tues morning indicating collection date 19Nov, then someone from the office called me in the afternoon. Knowing that I have given less than 5 days notice, I asked her repeatedly if it is ok to still collect on 19. She claimed no prob.

Obviously the office and the bookshop staff do not talk to each other. Hiaz.

In the past I buy the activity books from Popular. This round, there are some items which I could only buy from sch so I thought might as well buy all from sch.

When I was outside the bookshop, a mother told me she has to beg for the booklist from the general office becos her son's class (Wisdom 1) FT did not give to the class :!: Unbelievable right? Then she also blur blur gave the whole booklist to the bookshop without checking which are the ones she does not intend to buy. Ended up our poor friend picked all items according to the booklist, only to have her taking time to go through the bags and taking out whatever.

Anyway, I am short of two items: Listening Compreh and Perfect Match System (one of the Sci textbooks). Might be in two weeks later. I wont bother going back though.

The 'system' book is available in Popular. I got mine there. The Listening Compre book also no stock. Thot of getting in school. I sent my girl to grab the exer books & the teachers' prod books from school yesterday. Think can save me a trip down next week. πŸ™‚

Did you get the Perf Match Art text in school?

Attended the Orientation today. Quite chaos.

Received some labels to write child's name and class, and have them pasted on the top right hand corner of books and files.

But these labels seem to be too big. Can I cut the labels into smaller size??? What is the practice here?? Can someone advice me please. :?

hi , anybody can advise? my girl has promoted to Peace 2 next year. She is very sad as she said that Peace is a poor graded class. Is it true? How should i advise her to cheer up. She got very bad results for her SA1, all 60+ but she did improve for her SA2, all 80+. :

That's the disadvantage of banding the kids. 😞

I think your daughter has superb improvements, jumping from 60+ to 80+. That is very commendable!!!

Well, tell your girl, this is not the end, just the beginning. There are lots of chances for her to move upwards for years to come. My child comes from a neighbourhood school with no banding from p1 to p2 then when she comes to PHPPS, she starts to hear pple telling her which are good classes, which are not. I told her, good class or not, is not important. As long as she is in a 'right' class, hence, to be in that 'right' class, she just need to try her best. Even when best effort is put in, there is no guarantee to be in the front few classes, but whats the big deal? There is still a long way to go. Most importantly, enjoy school, enjoy studies, enjoy childhood, then she will have energy to go far.

Thank you for the encouraging reply. I think you are a good parent. SHould learn from you some tips. Yes , enjoy school and will have the energy to go far..
Will go and tell her today.

Don't be bother about the label size. Just paste them on the book cover. So that your child name can be seen clearly.

hi all, I'm new here! Just joined this forum.

My elder girl is also in PHPPS. Glad to find this thread.

Donkey, take heart - result is not everything (though it's really hard not to compare at times) and i guess PHPPS' standard is really high. I had a shock myself when i saw the postion ranking in report book.

My girl is also going pri 2 next year...:)
