hi to exprience parents
what is the chance of transferring from temasek pri to tan nan in end of pri1. -
My son is currently at St Stephen School. Now Temasek has a vacancy and offer him a place. Not sure if is a right move to move. He’s in P2…

Why did u apply to join under the waitlist in the first place.
Think u gonna ask yourself n also how your boy is doing now in his current sch to see if u want to go ahead with the transfer. P2 is actually a good time, ie the earlier the better for transfer cases. -
Hi,
I’m planning to shift my daugther to a local school (primary 3 in 2013). currently she is studying in international school. the main reason being i cant afford to send both the kids to international school, its quite expensive.
i would like to seek advise from parents on which school to apply to get admission for my elder one( P3 in 2013). I prefer the schools in the central or north area and a girl’s school…
i tried to email a few schools (but no positive response)…
appreciate if you could guide me with the right means for application to the local schools…my younger one is going to nursery now…, so i still have a couple of more years before her primary 1. but i want the 2 girls to go to the same school… -

Ability to transfer to a primary school is usually dependent on the vacancies for that particular level. Each school has its own criteria for admission, but having good academic results in the prior years would be good.Hi,

Most schools would have a waiting list form that would need to be completed and lodged with the General Office, together with preceding years' academic results. There may or may not be entrance tests and interview at some schools.
Suggest that you identify which school(s) you wouldn't mind your kids to be enrolled in, and then make a trip to each school(s) and lodge the waiting list form(s) as necessary.
Note that the \"validity period\" of the waiting list form you lodge is dependent on each school, so do enquire with each school how often you would need to \"update\" the details in it for you to continue being on the waiting list. -
Need your opinion, do you think it worth to transfer my son to another school. He will be in P5 next year. He will leave with 2 years only with that new school. Reason being I want him to be same school with his brother next year and I really dont know if its worth it…

My humble personal two cents ....
Depends on your kid's preference, character and adaptability. To transfer at end p4/beginning P5 may be a bit daunting for him - New school, new culture, new CCA, new teachers, new friends with zero history of behaviour record and results in new school, rebuilding of friendships and credentials, possible foregoing of leadership or special program opportunities etc. More importantly, discuss in depth with your son on how he feels. To me, best time to transfer is lower primary up till end p3/beginning P4.
Can only think of an exception: if old school has no affiliated sec sch but new school has a good affiliated sec sch to go up to, then maybe worth the efforts.
All the best in your decision! -

You might also want to consider if he is in the top class now and whether he will be in the top class when he gets the transfer. For example, my dd's school does not assign a transferred student to the top class. The whole P5 will move up together to P6 with the same teachers. The top class normally gets better teachers like HODs. There was this transferred student who came in at P5. She was not assigned to the top class but made it to top 3 of the cohort in P5. She is in P6 now but still not in the top class. -

That is something worth considering as being in the top class is quite useful I would say especially in Pri 5/6.Anna:
