One case that I know of: A concert gives tithe through GIRO to the church and doesn't give his parents any allowance. What would you say to this?

I also know another case which is like that. The elder brother and wife are both Christians. Both are university graduates and earn a total income many times their younger brother (around 2K per month, even jobless accasionally). Old mother is 70 years old, stay with younger brother in a old 3-room HDB flat. The older brother give tithe to church but give nothing to old mother. Come \"home\" once a month to visit old mother and probably earn a \"free\" dinner. Old mother of course will prepare better dinner whenever elder son is coming back.

Whenever, some of these CHC members say that they will stand by their pastor like a family member would have, I feel skeptical. Some of them, like the above brother may have forsake their real home. Isn't it hypocritical?

Generally, I think religious belief is a good thing. However sometimes, over-indulgence threatens basic common sense, morality and filial piety.

I personally know of a few that has left the faith because unreasonable religious demands and use of fear mongering.

I need to get this off my chest. I will go on record for this (and most likely incur the wrath of CHC members) and described CHC account of this Roland Poon incident to its members.

I was still a CHC member in 2003 when this incident occurred. Roland Poon has printed the apologies in the newspapers. Kong Hee explained to the congregation in the services that CHC's admin invited Roland Poon to the office to explain to him that there was no church fund used for Sun Ho's career. The meeting ended amicably and Roland Poon decided to print the apologies because he felt that he had wronged the church and Sun Ho. There was no mention that he was threatened with a lawsuit. Kong Hee even said in the service that they did not want to sue the guy as he thought as a Christian one should forgive with grace.

Yes, the above account is true and you can double confirm with CHC members who was there in 2003.
Pray tell me were you in that infamous meeting? If they have sued they will beat Durai in the game,

No. My account was that of a CHC church goer. Above was what Kong Hee told us.

I think he will be proud to know of your faith in him. Many people also believed Jim Jones.

I have been observing the developments in the CHC case and have a few points to make.

As the case is now a criminal case before the courts, the matter would turn ultimately on evidence presented to court. Information relevant to the case should be submitted through the proper channels such as getting a lawyer to write in to the CAD or AG's Chambers or submitted as defence.

With regard to the allegations, Mr Zulkarnain says, \"It has been suggested that the church has been cheated of $50 million. This is not accurate. The $24 million, which went to investment bonds, was returned to the church in full, with interest. We didn't lose the $24 million, nor did we lose 'another $26.6m' as alleged. The church did not lose any funds in the relevant transactions, and no personal profit was gained by the individuals concerned.\"

Statements like those above directly touch the facts surrounding the case. It would be wise to seek legal advice before publicly commenting on factual matters in a criminal case.

In addition, testimonials of character and past good good deeds only go towards mitigation in sentencing once guilt is established. They are irrelevant to the process of establishing whether offences are committed.

With emotions running high, it would be wise for the church leaders to urge members to stay calm and respectfully allow the legal process to take its course. The repeat of the man wall surrounding the accused persons outside the court and the attendant minor scuffle should not be encouraged or allowed.

I never actually believed Kong Hee's account. That was one of the main triggers that caused me to leave the church. The final trigger was related to an activity relating to Crossover Project. His past actions (the ones I personally observed) before this case have been enough for me to deem him unfit to be a God's shepherd, hence I refuse to address him as a Pastor.

Please be clear above was only an opinion and you are free to disagree with me.

I’m curious. Don’t CHC members question KH’s lifestyle and current residence? Or they are aware and are ok with that. Are they not perturbed that their contributions may be servicing his lifestyle and address? I mean, I don’t expect pastors or religious leaders to live in poverty but… does one need to own a property at Sentosa Cove? It all sounds so unnecessarily extravagant.

KH talks about prosperity gospel… but, whose prosperity are CHC members servicing here?

hmmm.. I think it was published somewhere that the penthouse he is staying in has another Bizman's name registered to it... So, technically, he could be a minority owner of the house..

Correct me if I am wrong - I think I read from the reports that KH and family shifted into the Penthouse @ Oceanfront already.
