How to save electricity?

So I'm barking at the wrong tree ... ok in order to save electricity, I declare that my family must bathe immediately one after another. Muahaha.Normal sized one...but Korean made...repaired a couple of times so maybe it was no longer efficient. Think after a few yrs, most fridge will lose efficiency due to 24/7 running.
Think water heater at least 1000w. If u need 1/2 hr to heat up one tank, it's equivalent to turning on yr 20w toilet light for 1 day. -
Biggest electricity consumers are the appliances that heat and cool.
1. Aircon
2. Water Heater, esp the tank heaters
3. Big ovens, esp the built-in ones
4. Irons
5. Refrigerators / Chest Freezers
6. Toasters
7. Electrical kettles / airpots -
All seven devices I also have. I also got the dryer which really comes in handy during those monsoon periods when our clothes never seems to fully dry.
It’ll be good to shed 10-20% from my utility bills but it’ll be difficult as difficult goes. -

Imami, do you mean the increase is $10? Should be ok. I know of people staying in 5 rm HDB paying more than $500 a month for electricity bill. I think it is alot. Another person told me he paid about $800!!!
I am very particular about utility bills. Not sure why too... I mean it's just $10 bucks more but I am like :frustrated: :stompfeet:
Despite having a lower than average utiliy bill than most singaporeans in the same housing category, we are still very mindful about using water and electricity. -

Really - replacing water tank type heater will cost a bomb? Sorry, I am quite ill-informed but is it not just dismantle the heater and install the new one? Which part is the expensive one?

When I last changed my 10 yr old fridge, my bill went down as much as $50!
Other elect sucker incl tank water Heater, iron, washer (w heater).
I stay in an old flat and we have those water-tank type heaters in all 3 bathrooms. I don't like them; I prefer those instant heater types. But replacing them will cost a bomb I guess. -

Yup, my child knows not to play with water. I always tell him about children from other places have no clean water to shower or drink, so he can't be wasting precious resources by watching the water flows from a running tap.
I even try to collect water from his shower and use the water to scrub the toilet (then last rinse with clean tap water). any extra will be used to flush toilet bowls.
Now contemplating to put a pail at the balcony area to collect rain water for watering the plants or flush toilet bowl.... There was I experimented with toilet bowl flush. Someone told me each flush costs $0.20. For a month (to coincide with sp services billing cycle), we flush the toilet bowl using recycled water. The water charges dropped by $13. There are only three of us in the household. -

it's locked to prevent tempering.. but reading should be accessible coz PUB encourage household to read their own meter.
Excellent idea. Except that my flat's meter is behind a locked door; don't ask me why, I also don't know. You got time to do this experiment or not?limlim:
Just learn how to read the meter outside the flat will do..
On the lights for 2 hours, then compare the meter reading before/after to find how much the meter move. Then, repeat will on/off a few times. -
Oh my goodness, my utility bill each month is $350. I have cracked my brain many times how to cut down on the bills but doesn’t seem to work.
Do you guys turn off the power for TV and computer? Or just off the power at the equipment itself? I heard you need to remove the plug out from the socket to be effective.
