I agree. For a fast learner who has mastered the basics, I would suggest the OnSponge P3 book as challenging practice.

for fast learners, can save a lot of money by just checking out the problems in the Q&A section of this forum. The questions are of a certain difficulty level and solutions are provided, and best of all, it's free. πŸ™‚
and if you're still unclear of the solution, you can even ask questions. πŸ•Ί best assessment book there is.....

It's not clear whether you are disagreeing with or adding on to my post...

This thread is for recommending Maths assessment books to fellow parents. The \"Burning Maths Questions\" threads usually attracts P5/P6 questions. If there are any relevant P3 questions, they are buried under mountains of posts in those long threads. They are not neatly categorized under 11 patterns of challenging word problems with explanations and solutions for each type - which is what OnSponge provides. I would not recommend the Maths Q&A threads as the primary source for learning to solve challenging Maths problems.

Here's the link for the P3 Maths questions: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=149&start=1830. I believe this was done recently probably early this year or end of last year when there was a revamp of the website.

However, the problems are not categorized. So they're good for students who feel that they are familiar with all the relevant heuristics and are now ready to tackle uncategorized P3 questions, probably in preparation for exam. If the student is weak in certain heuristics, then yes, it is good to drill them on a certain category first to gain the experience. Once the student is confident that he or she is ready for mock exam practice, then the forum questions will help out.

For parents who are considering getting the mock exam type of assessment books, then the P3 Math Q&A thread is a good alternative.
It is also good for parents who are looking to evaluate the various types of challenging problems for the P3 level. Quite a number of these questions are from past year school exam papers.

My DD is using it. Quite a lot of challenging questions. My DD can not handle on her own. Good for high achievers.

You are right, should get my girl to get back the book from the teacher. The teacher wants them to keep the book in school so if there is any time slot, will get them to do. Seems like no time slot available as many books were required to buy but didnt touch at all. Teachers now rely on parents to teach too.

Yes, you check with (request) the teacher. Since you already bought the book, you must make full use of it. May I ask you what other books your school asked you to buy? Thank you.
