Because they looked up to Kong Hee? It's human nature to to elevate someone who you perceive to be more successful and 'godly' than yourself, and by extension all their words sound like the truth.

Anyway, your reply raised an important issue here. I am quite disappointed that many churches in singapore (from what I have gathered) do not engage their members regarding this CHC issue. Personally I think this is a golden time to clear up any misconceptions or erroneous teachings with their members and non-believers, and to show people the more positive sides of Christianity. Some churches even ask their members not to blog or put their thoughts about this case. I have a feeling many churchers and their pastors do not want to be perceived as judgmental so they just pretend it never happened.

Really unfortunate that the first Christians sermons that non believers watch as a result of this case are those prosperity teaching or 'dramatic' ones. I hope more churches or leaders do not 'sit on the fence' for too long.

Case is subjudice. Perhaps d church leaders don't want any comments to be misconstrued as prejudicing court proceedings.
      Be patient.

Yes, I don't think church leaders should comment on the case or whether Kong Hee is guilty or not. But they could have engagad on related issues that are raised from this case, such as proper Christian public image (Sun Ho's MTVs) or prosperity teaching.
Agree that they should make use of this opportunity to explain the teachings to new Christians who may still have alot of questions about the Gospel, or impressionable Christian youths who are still very confused .

Understood wat u meant d first time.
d operating word here is 'misconstrued'.
They may hv no other intention, but wat they say cld be misconstrued to prejudice d case.

I am looking forward to 25 July for the hearing. I long to hear what KH has to say on his side of the stories on this matter as he mentioned during his recent sermon. I hope it will not turn urgly if 33,000 members turned up to give their support and jam the Court in Havelock road.

may be all the judges after listening to KH also whip out their wallets and give until hurts ..... ooops, forgot to bring the offering bags to court.

To get back on track, I'll again share with everyone Kong Hee's sermon in the recent Presence Conference 2012 Sydney. move the clip forward from 39:30 onwards.

                  http://www.fightingforthefaith.com/2012/04/kong-hees-fleecing-of-the-masses.html
Ibelieve everyoneshould hear it for themselves since he's unlikely to repeat this in Singapore in short-term.

I really cant believe it.. U ve to give tithe, first fruits, alms and then offering.. I have heard this before live from the horses mouth (just that it has got worse) and believe me even if ur not looking at making lots of money (prosperity), but u still give cos ur scared that if u dont give something bad will happen. He knows wht words to use to get the max impact. He even tells u the amount u should give.. For him 100$ is a small amount( the least) but for a lot of people that is a huge amount.

How much is he giving?? That was the que i had yrs back and the que i have even now?

IF ur really GODS person why dont u live in a humble building, dress modestly and use the money to help the millions who are starving. Jesus or any other messiahs all lived a very simple life and never asked anyone to give them any money..

How did this Kong end up with 33000 followers? Cant people see through him??. The way he is talking... He has turned the GOD to a avenge seeking person who will get back at you if you dont give GOD any money (techincally GOD doesnt need money, people need it to do things on the name of GOD)..
There are many many people who has used GOD to their benefit. Distorted bible to their own convenience and then thousands of people start believing this contorted version.

I wish as many people as possible listen to this prosperity sermon (incld the govt) so people can decide themselves.

GOD is seeing this, let his truth prevail

...Tzu Chi Foundation is definitely a good place. Was started by a Taiwanese Buddhist nun...see how high the standard they demand.

I heard donors (in terms of material/money donations) would have to remain anonymous, according to their 'standard'. Is that true?

Is not too far fetch that they have such a rule...is actually again spirituality in nature...Buddhists believe that unadvertised good deeds carries more self transformation strength. you get what i mean? Some people do charity to get famous or respect...although the act is charitable but the motivation isn't genuine love and compassion.

Apparently, even the most hardcore skeptics are convinced by their sincerity. Why would the North Korean gave permit last year for the Tzu Chi Singapore envoys to access NK rurals areas for humanitarian work? No foreign agents have ever been allowed to see some of their rural areas.

The following podcast from the same website shows how KH himself views the 6 months of investigations in 2010.

                      http://www.fightingforthefaith.com/2012/06/ed-youngs-calvinist-melt-down.html
                      Listen from 16.00 to 23.00.

If he continue to preach, by the time the case comes befor the court, the 33k people are already brainwashed (Not that they r not now).. And yes because of this only the wrong preachings are coming out. Christianity is not at all about prosperity and I wish people will get to hear some good sermons rather than such ridiculous distorted versions of GODs words.
(Just to clarify I am not a christian but i have read bible extensively and i take the best in all the religion)

the gov’t can’t stop him from preaching on sunday otherwise is deemed to be persecuting / prosecuting the church

TCH made it clear it is against the ‘famous’ 5 as individuals

it is up the the 5 how they conduct themselves prior to the court hearing
