Hi , Could someone help me with the following question:

Mr Stone was wondering (whom/who) his daughter was out with so late at night.

The answer given is who. Could someone enlighten me why who?

        Thank You

Hi - I went to grammar.quickanddirtytips.com - remembered reading top 5 tips : who versus whom. I would have chosen whom. Can someone enlighten us ? TIA.

We use \"whom\" when it's for the object and \"who\" when it's for the subject.

        For example;
Who saw Miss Stone at the library?
The person who saw Miss Stone is the subject.

Whom did Miss Stone see at the library?
The person whom Miss Stone saw is the object.

This is a common mistake among students, perhaps, even among non-students. ๐Ÿ˜„

The answer for the question should be \"whom\" as Mr Stone's daughter went out with somebody--- somebody is the object.

        Hope this helps.

I know how. Is involved in first and second verb form, the first verb, \"helped\" can be in any form of present or past tense, but the second form should be a base form.

                    Hi,

Can someone help with this Q5, the answer key for \"undaunted\" is \"unfazed\" but why not \"unflinching\" ? Thanks.

                    Q5. undaunted
                    unfazed
                    uncertain
                    unresolved
                    unflinching

I was on tenterhooks even before the race began. My (1) nervousness was obvious to those around me. My heart was pounding so quickly I was sure it was (2) loud and clear from a distance. The doctor had reminded me that taking part in the competition would mean a (3) worsening of my condition but I was adamant to represent my school in the race as it was my only chance. When I heard the starter gun, I took off like a deer pursued by its hound. Then what the doctor feared most happened; my kneecap (4) yielded to the pressure. \"No, please, no!\" I cried to myself. The gnawing pain grew. Me legs weakened and I collapsed. When I came to, I was unable to walk and my movement was restricted. However, I was (5) undaunted.
The answer is unfazed because it means to be resilient in the face of difficulties, like undaunted.
Unflinching is not possible because you would have to use it like \"She showed an unflinching determination.\" You cannot say \"I was unflinching.\"

                    Hope this helps.
