we spent US$680M on tuition in 2008, maybe by now could have cross the US$1B mark :yikes:

I have nothing against my tutors...in fact, I love them very much because they are the ones who EDUCATE my son.
Crossing the billion dollar mark is not surprising. I spend $2K a month just for my son's tutors alone.

$2K a month !!! :yikes: :yikes: :scared: :faint:
No wonder you complain 'no money' for other things.
Must be premium tutors, no wonder you love them. πŸ˜‰
My 2 kids' tuition + piano + monthly school allowance also dun add up to $2k. Now I feel rich  easily contented & happy as usual πŸ˜‰ :siam:

My son is in P6. So the charges are not cheap. Math tuition twice a week as once is insufficient. Chinese twice a week bcos there is Paper 1 and Paper 2. This is why I dare not think of anything. Told hubby he is lucky wife is not high maintenance.

80 days more before PSLE…tighten our belts. It’s tough, but we do not have restaurant nor travel bug, so still manageable. Tutors have their own materials, not using assessment books. In the meantime, we have included little treats at Mac to give him some sweetener for the hard work put in.

Eeeeee agree. Last lap do what you can. But I still think $2k is a lot for 1 child. πŸ˜“
Mine also P5 & P6.... Throw in Berries, mathshub, mindstretcher, learning edge, piano, monthly sch allowance also less than $1k each. I seriously curious how much does the tutor charge per month. Kaypo only, u can ignore. πŸ˜‰

My 'finance minister' at home is in charge. My job is to find appropriate tutors, get their quotation πŸ˜‰ , 'interview' them and then pass to him. :rotflmao:

Son's tutors are doing what school teachers should be doing. My boy tells me what his teachers do:
*come to class, give them past year papers to do while he sits at his desk.
*another teacher tells the class answers for worksheets done, kids swop worksheets to mark.
*give projects like 'what sec school they wish to attend' and form your own group.

My son is not in top class...so maybe that's why I have to spend so much money on tuition. Close to $2k.

If only every teacher in school teaches like no pupil is having tuition, there won't be such a critical need for these extra classes. Can only dream on....

So teachers not teaching properly in school is the reason for tuition? Looks like asia have really lousy teachers going by the article.

I think this is good feedback

May be should also post to the Pri 1 registration thread to warn the parents to think twice / thrice about enrolling the kids at Pei Hwa. Such irresponsible teachers you have there
