CHIJ Our Lady of Good Counsel

My daughter is still only in P2 so I’m sure there are other parents who have more years of experience at OLGC than me.
Overall I have found that the environment is very caring; it has the advantage of being a smaller school which makes it feel more friendly.
My daughter had a very gentle teacher in P1 (Mdm Woo) who never seemed to scold them for anything; she was more like an "aunty" than a teacher. Her teacher this year (Miss Tan who is known to be tough!) is the total opposite so she is going through a big shock this year but having met the infamous Miss Tan I can say that she may be strict but underneath she is still a very caring teacher with the best interests of the girls at heart. -
i have been trying to find out the recent years results (PSLE) for this sch but can’t seem to get those information.
does anyone has CHIJ-OLGC past years PSLE results that breakdown in terms of percentage per category of scoreline. for example:
180points and below - 10%
180pts to 200pts - 50%
200pts to 230pts - 30%
230pts to 260pts - 5%
260pts and above - 5%
maybe i’m not looking at the right places.
TIA -

Hi. I noticed that this thread is rather quiet. I’ve successfully registered my DD in P1 next year (2013). I really hope to get to know more parents who have DDs in OLGC so that we can share ideas and experience.

Welcome! My daughter is in P2 this year.
Yes, this thread is very quiet but maybe that's a good sign that parents don't have anything to complain about!
One silly piece of advice for you - when it comes to buying uniform, please bear in mind that they usually wear their PE shirts 3 days a week instead of their normal school shirts. Don't do what I did and buy 4 normal shirts and 2 PE shirts. -
Thank you For your welcome Ikiasu! Looking forward to more interaction with you.
Thank you too, nms1, for your advice with regards to their uniform. I’ll keep that in mind when I get DD her uniforms.
Anyway, I hve 2 queries, if it’s alright to ask…How does your DDs commute to school? And are the girls bog down with too much homework? Thanks again for your replies. -

My daughter walks to school but there are a lot who catch the school buses. It is not very easy to commute via public transport.Thank you For your welcome Ikiasu! Looking forward to more interaction with you.

I think the homework is very reasonable in the early years. My daughter is in P2 and can stretch it out for a long time but in general her English and Maths is less than an hour a day and some days they don't have any homework at all. On top of that she probably has 30 mins of Chinese a few days a week then a few bits of social studies or art every now & again. -
Hi! I've just registered my girl at CHIJ OLGC.. The sch environment seems serene and conducive for learning. The staff who processed my application is very polite too. I hope my girl can secure a place in the sch succesfully

loooking forward to interact more with parents 'here'
but my husband and mil seem to drop hints 'sch is so far'.. haiz.. in fact it's within 2km from my home, i feel it's not far at all.
