      Hi MMM :snuggles:

Jia You, Jia You! :rahrah: :rahrah:
Share with us your experience for preparing the \"big jump\" from P4 to P5! πŸ˜“ πŸ˜“
I think the key thing is really about foundation. So the child by P4 should really have solid foundation so when they move into P5, it will not be so painful. The concern is that with the big jump, once the kids start to do badly, it hits their confidence and they might continue to do badly.

Maths - they can start to use calcutor for part 2. But the no. of problem sums increased significantly. So if they are not fast enough, they will struggle. For part 1, no calcutor, so it's important to enforce to the kids not to be over reliant on calculator as based on my conversation with some parents, their P5 did badly in maths because of their reliance on calculator, they got alot of careless mistake in part 1. Their teacher told us to try to get the kids to score well in part 1 so passing becomes easy. So it's not impossible to pass. During CA1, alot of kids failed.... in average classes there are only few passes while in top classes, they see failures too. My dd1 results from P4 top 80's dropped to 60+ and we should \"rejoice\" since there are so many failure. But there are bright kids who still can score almost full marks. Those kids are probably preparing in advance so far. Eg. P4 already learn P5 and P6.

CL - my dd is doing HCL and comprehension is her weakest area. so imagine HCL mainly compre paper... it was like a killer for her. Her scores dropped for her CL and HCL. Her enrichment class teacher was like asked her to focus on her compre and we must quickly lead her out of no confidence zone. We attended the workshop provided by school on how to guide them. So for parents whose kids are weak in compre, build on it now. Frankly we are still struggling. Sometimes we are so busy that there is only so much we can do... :gloomy:

Science - all those that they learnt from p3 and P4 will still be tested. Need to ensure they have a strong foundation in P3 and P4 otherwise kids will continue to struggle.

OMG! Must try to relax a bit first or else we will go crazy before the time comes. Maybe can read my earlier post on page 163 and share some tips to relax ourselves and fight the PSLE battle in an easier way.

TGIF, as usual I will be finishing my work at 5.00pm and will bring dd to play at 5.30pm. I always look forward to this time everyday, so happy that we can stay slightly late today.

            Have a happy weekend, cheers

Dd came home yesterday asking if we had any plans for the year end holidays. No, I told her, then asked her why. She said that her dance teacher told them that the dance group were going to prepare for another ?concert ?performance next year and girls who were not able to practice during the holidays would not be selected for the performance. But, there would be a two week break at the end of Dec.

Good thing we’re booked for Pulau Besar this National Day weekend. For days of fishing, snorkeling, and general lazing in the sun!
