Anyone help on this question.
Nancy started cycling from point X to the library at 9am at a uniform speed of 500m/min. At 9.10am, Nancy passed Sam as he started cycling from Y towards the library at a certain uniform speed. At 9.20am, Sam was 1 km ahead of Nancy. They continued cycling towards the library and Sam reached there at 9.37am.
A) What was Sam speed ? Leave your answer in km/ h.
B) What was the distance from point X to the library ? Leave your answer in km. -

Motorist takes 1/2 h less than the usual time to travel from Town K to Town J when he increases his average speed by 10%. For a distance of 100km, he will take 1/3 h less than the usual time if his speed is 20% more than the average speed from Town K to Town J. Find the distance between Town K and Town J.
Where did you get this question from?
I believe it’s not your typical PSLE type of question.
Use “GC”; actually it’s not too tedious to arrive at the solution by guess and check in this case. The numbers are pretty neat.
The answer is 275 km.

A train left a terminal with some passengers. At station A, 3/5 of these passengers alighted and 50 passengers boarded the train. At station B, 118 passengers alighted and 38 passengers boarded the train. The number of passengers on the train now is 1/3 the number of passengers on the train when it left the terminal.
a) Find the number of passengers on the train when it left station B
b) How many passengers were there on the train when it left the terminal?

You may use MD or work using units.
At point of leaving terminal ------ 15 units
At point of leaving Station A ----- 6 units + 50
At station B
118 – 38 ------ 80
6 units + 50 – 80 ------- 6 units – 30
This is 1/3 the number of passengers on the train when it left the terminal.
6 units – 30 ----- 5 units
Hence, 1 unit ----- 30

Number of passengers on the train when it left station B ------ 6*30 – 30 ------ 150
Number of passengers on the train when it left the terminal ------- 15*30 ------ 450

In 10 minutes, Nancy covered 500*10 ------ 5000 m ------ 5 km
In 10 minutes, Sam covered ------ 5 + 1 ------ 6 km.
Sam’s speed ------ 6/1/6 ----- 36 km/h
From 9.10am to 9.37am, Sam travelled 27/60*36 ------ 16.2
Distance from point X to the library ------ 5 + 16.2 ------ 21.2 km

One more question please !
Bottles A, B and C contains 2.03 litres of oil altogether. 1/5 of the oil in bottle A is transferred to bottle B, after that 1/5 of the oil in bottle B is transferred to bottle C. Now bottle A has twice the amount of oil in bottle B and bottle B has twice the amount of oil in bottle C.
A) How much oil was transferred from bottle A to B ?
B) How much oil was in bottle C at first ? -

From 9am to 9.10am , Nancy covered 5 km.
