In 2010, only 1-2 spaces were left after P2C (upto 2km). I think in 2011, all spaces were filled up in P2C (upto 2km). So chances for >2km were rather dim. Here is the link to the http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/bukit-merah.

This year the picture may be different, because of the priority to citizens.

Which is your other option? Are there any schools within 1 km of your home?

I just read the MOE website on the priority to citizen and I think your chances are good because for PR, even if they stay within <1km, the priority is given to all citizens who have applied, regardless of distance. Only when all the citizens have been granted a place, then the remaining places will be opened to PR.
